I had an ultrasound today and it showed a cyst. I am currently on the last day of my period and moments ago I had some cramping then suddenly passed a large clot. Clots are normal for me but never this much. Could it have been the cyst? I plan on asking my doc during my next appointment but until then I would love your input! Thanks-

on my last scan i had 12 cysts on my left ovary and 16 on my right, I personally have never had one burst (to my knowledge or come out ) x

Hi :)
I have had cysts plenty times, simple and non simple.
Some times they have just gone themselves.
Other times the pain from them bursting has resulted in A+E trips n being away with the fairies having drips and morphine injections and all that jazz :)
It perfectly normal to get them, most women would have some if they had an ultrasound apparently.
As for the clot, it a new one on me. Think sometimes if it a non simple cyst then it can contain blood, n all kinds even teeth material so could make sense that you could pass something out from it. I personally never have.
Best to check it out with doc but sure it nowt to worry about xx :hugs:
Oh n on my last scan everything was clear and normal so dont panic prob no damage done but always best to seek qualified opinion x

most cysts come and go, but some have to be surgically removed. your FS will tell you if your cyst needs to be removed. I was recently diagnosed with such a cyst, I had a laparoscopy on monday but when they got there they discovered that the cyst was too small to be removed. i am not worried

As for clots, to be honest I find it difficult to imagine how the cyst can be passed as a clot? clots/periods come from inside the uterus while cysts are located on your ovaries which is outside your uterus. Cysts sometimes get dissolved within your abdomen but I do not think this is something you will notice.

Thanks for the replies! It makes a lot of sense the way you put it Briss! Now I feel a bit silly lol
