Long story cut very short.
Severely infected ingrown toenail finally removed last month after 21 months of pain and delays, with it resisting every course of antibiotics. Not given antibiotics immediately after operation, followed aftercare to the letter yet 10 days later the wound ended up so severely infected I could barely walk or even put a sock on as the pain was so intense. Put on a 10 day course Flucoxcillin, no change. Moved to Erythromycin and swab finally taken to enable a match to correct antibiotic by the end of the week.
Well, the Erythromycin has REALLY upset my tummy. I understand this is a common side effect but I'm throwing up everything I eat and have such bad diaorreah I am quickly pooping out anything I do manage to eat or drink and keep down. I'm really dehydrated this morning.
It doesn't say in the leaflet about discontinuing use, only that this side effect is common. At what point should I give up on them? Do I just need battle through until swab results in? I'm in so much pain with my toe that I am miserable, I don't want to stop something that can help fix it unless I have to.
Xx
