Ok, google is evil. Just searched for some info on fertility and severe endometriosis and wish I hadn't. It's just full of doom and gloom.

Does anyone know of anyone with severe endo who has managed to conceive one way or the other?

xx

Hi

I have severe endometriosis as well, and currently on Zoladex waiting for IVF in May. I dont personally have a success story but i know some ladies on an endo site that have. Some naturally, some with IVF. This is what gets me going. Im new to the site, so im not sure if im allowed to write down the site for you. Please let me know and ill post it.

Hi, thanks for your message.

I'm not sure if you're allowed to post a site or here or not. I'll message one of the moderators and ask. If not, maybe you could private message me or something? I would love to have an endo site to go on. And really think that success stories are what I need to hear at the moment to keep me going.

How is the zoladex going? Has it stopped everything altogether? Are you staying on it right up to the IVF? xx

Hi Hayz,

The Zoladex is going fine, it's my 1st injection and I think it takes like a month to actually help to reduce endo. I am looking forward to my appointment on Monday and going to demand a scan if not offered by FS. The side effects have been fine, 1st 2 weeks I had bad headaches, back aches and still suffer from mood swings. I get dazed allot and can't concentrate more than one thing at a time. The hot flushes have been fine, get it once in the morning at work which that’s lasts a minute and that’s about it. Have you had it before? How's the clomid going?

From my understanding I will be on it up until when IVF commences. I'm not sure about the whole IVF procedure but the part where you inject yourself or sniff something to stop ovulating normal I will skip as Zoladex has already put me on temporary menopause.

I have sent you a private message re the site.

I was on Zoladex for six months a few years ago now. I had side effects on it, like hot flushes, feeling spacey etc, but nothing that wasn't manageble - and the lack of periods for that time was a good trade off!

Are you having IVF on NHS or privately?

Yes, I know of lots of success stories of women with severe endo :)

Some girls I know only needed a lap to remove it and got pg naturally within 3 months after.

Other girls I know have fallen naturally with no help at all.

Others have needed IVF but did get pg from IVF.

Good luck to you xx

I have a friend who had severe endometriosis and only one functioning ovary. She "slipped up" and got pregnant right out of high school. When she started TTC #2, she had no luck. She had severe endometriosis and ended up having a procedure similar to a D&C to "clean" things out. A few months later she was pregnant with #2. When #2 was 3 months old, she unexpectedly found out she was pregant again...and it was TWINS, naturally. So, please don't give up hope!!!

Oh those success stories have given me hope as well. Thank you.

Hayz, my IVF is NHS funded I have been given 3 attempts.
Last night I received a letter from FS to my GP explaining my circumstances and how our best chance is IVF and not to go through the IUI route.
To read exactly my fertility and health issues on this letter was a bit of a shock. It feels like this dream of having a child is going to become a reality.

Does the clomid give you more pain with your endo?

Fantastic that you get three goes, that at least takes the psychological pressure off a bit, and great that it's all moving forward for you. Really wish you all the luck in the world and am looking forward to following your IVF journey!

I only started the clomid this cycle and am mid-cycle at the moment. I only really suffer from very bad pain just before and during AF, so I'm yet to find out if the Clomid will have any effect...wait and see I guess. (Or hopefully I'll get a BFP and will never find out!!)

Hey Hayz

I have stage 3 endometriosis diagnosed in 2005. I had three ops including an excision in 2005 and the pain is back with a vengance!! My consultant tells me that those with stages 1 - 2 (being the least problematic) are more likely to achieve natural pregnancy. Yet my sister has the same as me and got pregnant naturally with twins.

We have been sent away to "try" (god I hate that word) naturally before we need to see the fertility docs. That time has eplased so back to the docs next week.

I would really love to catch privately with you as it would help me no end to have someone in the same boat.

Congratulation Kat, hope you have a great 9 months.

Hi there,
We had been ttc for about a year when I started having really painful BMs during AF. Found out I have stage 4 endo, which had started to grow into my colon and there was a large mass in the culdesac (whatever that is). I had lap to remove some of it and "clean" me out a bit in July. Husband deployed shortly after, but we concieved naturally within 2 weeks of his return in November. Our baby girl is now 18 months and we've been ttc #2 for 8 months now. I was told it should be easier to concieve the 2nd time around, but that's not sounding so true about now.
Anyhow, I'm convinced the surgery helped us concieve. It was a pretty easy surgery, too- no stitches (just glue). Did leave me with some nerve damage, though. :(

How great to hear about you two. Inspiration to endo sufferers everywhere x

Thank you for those success stories. :witch: got me on Friday so have been unable to get onto computer all weekend - AF pains evil yet again.

Katwoman - congratulations. That's fantastic news. Hope I will joining you next month.

Rynin, fantastic that you've got your little girl. Really hope you don't have to wait much longer for your second.

Thanks so much. My gynae had made me lose hope a bit, but this thread has made me feel better. My OH just says gynae can't possibly know and is convinced we will conceive soon - I love having him being so positive around me, makes it all a bit easier.

I have severe endo. I have lap surgery in 2009. They wanted me to go on lupron and I denied it and just remained on oral BC or Depo. I took my last Depo shot in June and I am now prego. I wasn't even trying!!! I was told what a difficult time I was going to have trying to conceive and I would probably end up doing IVF. My doctor even as much contacted my insurance company to see what they would cover and based on my Endo they would cover almost all of it. I was happy to hear that at least. But first my doc wanted me to try for 1 whole year, then if that didn't work have the surgery again, try again, and than onyl after that I could try IVF. Well here I am 10 weeks prego I didn't even know til 8 weeks b/c I had no symtpoms. Finally a 10lb weight increase prompted me to take a test. We were in disbelief and so wasn't my doctor. So don't believe everything you hear/read and good luck!!!
