hey all i have been TTC 3years 6months been on clomid twice nothing worked. we did suffer a suspected ectopic in feb which turned out to be a medical misdignosis and they terminated my pregnancy but anyways don't want to go into that we were put on IUI waiting list in AUGUST time roughly and getting IUI in juneish...

anyways i have sever PCOS, Backwards and misshapped uterus, only one tube and sperm allergy.... anyways RE seems to think IUI might work but its the last route anyways so its last chance....

does anyone know what the sucess rates are with 6rounds of IUI and PCOS etc..... my OH has beyond brilliant sperm.....

any information help or run down of IUI would be brilliant. x

Hi hun didnt want to read and run

I havent had IUI personaly but I know people who have been sucessfull with PCOS. I too have servere PCOS have been NTNP for two years and TTC for over two years. One year with Metformin almost, not even a sniff of a regular period.

Make an appointment with FS or GP and ask them what the sucess rates are, as I know June is a little way away.

I hope all works out and lots of :dust: x

thanks hun yeah maybe do that wanted to hear personal experence as well as i am a little scared... i love your Display picture x

Hi! I also have PCOS and one tube. I started taking Metformin in Sep and had my first IUI in Nov. I got pregnant that cycle. Sadly we lost it, but I have just had my second one on the 13th and I am feeling pretty positive. I have been ttc for over a year now. Good Luck! IUI might be what you need.

hey hun sorry to hear your lost your little angel :( :hugs: can you give me a run down of what happenes etc during IUI and such? i am scared useless...

Hi there, I've had IUI twice, both BFN I'm afraid.

It's not bad at all, I went in on CD1 for blood test & scan, started taking letrozole & went back in a week for another scan & blood test, then they just kept an eye on me until 1 or 2 lead follicles developed, I took an HCG injection to make me ovulate, then I went in for the IUI. It was just like a smear test really, not sore at all, was over in about 5 minutes!

The odds for IUI are about the same as a regular cycle, 20-25%, so if you're doing 6 cycles, you've got a really good chance of a bfp. I assume you'll be on a medicated cycle with your PCOS, so you your clinic will make sure you ovulate.

Good luck!!!

i don't know yet if i am having medically managed cycles yet or one natural and then take it from there i haven't been told yet as still on the waiting list still waiting to be issued the actually treatment.

Thank you. It was hard, but at least I now know I can get pregnant. I would think that it is going to be a medicated cycle for you. I ovulate on my own, but they still put me on Clomid. I took it days 5-9 and between cd 12-14 I go in for a scan to see how big my follicles are. If they are mature then I am given a HCG (ovidrel) shot to bring on ovulation. I have my IUI the next morining. The whole procedure is onyl about 5 mins. Not painful at all and you are free to go about you normal activities after. The wors part is the 2ww.

yeah i bet. the 2ww in general is usually hell lol... but i guess with hcg shot u have to wait longer than usually to get reliable results? i am scared useless tbh with you i have a needle phobia but that :bfp: is more important to me lol i guess they will run through it with me.... it takes me ages to implaint so wonder if it might be worth me resting after IUI instead of going back to my stressful busy life lol.

Lots of girls on here went on to have a BFP after IUI No 1!!! So there's hope.

Mine was a BFN unfortnately. Despite DH's perfect SA and my good response to the stimulants....it just didn't work for some reason :cry:

Why can't you try IVF?

its mostly about money RE said ivf would be no more effective than 6 rounds of iui And its cheaper!

i have servere PCOS, and have use to actually get to the IUI stage of a cycle (my ovaries when monitored are showing nada. now of course im HOPING that when i finally get to day 16 and they do their thing, it sticks, but im just glad that ill have as much of a chance with each IUI as a 'normal' couple would, ill take it!

i had always seen that 'regular' couples my age had a 20% chance each month, and that IUI was 18%.

sorry to hear about all of your other issues along with the PCOS.

thnk you hun guess time will tell whats going to happen to/for us. x

I have PCOS, tried to conceive for 6 years...I did countless months/years on Clomid with ZERO success. Finally found an awesome fertility doctor. I was put on Femara 5mg CD3-CD7, Follistim and Ovidrel. I did 3 IUI's and became pregnant on 3rd IUI. I took progesterone for 12 weeks after successful IUI. I had 7 mature follicles and only ONE took! That was in 2008 and I am now blessed with a beautiful 2 year old girl! We now have been trying to conceive #2 since our daughter was 4 months...no luck. Looks like we will be headed back for more IUI's. THEY DO WORK, JUST GET ON THE RIGHT MEDS AND FIND THE RIGHT DOCTOR!! Good luck!!!! IT WILL HAPPEN!:dust:
