I'm trying to lower my BMI as well in preperation for IVF. I have been ttc for 28 cycles now

I have been doing weightwatchers (part of a thread in the Health section).

PM me if you want to chat xxx

PS - my ticker says 15 lb to go, but that is until i can start IVF, I have much more to lose then that! But setting myself mini goals lol

hey girls, just wondering. Does ur bmi have to be below 30 before treatment or investigations?

I had clomid, lap and dye all bloods etc with a bmi over 30, but for IVF it needs to be under 30. Hope that helps xxx

Hi Ladies

Would love to join you, my first target is to get BMI under 35 as my FS wont give me anymore tests or meds until then. After that is to get BMI under 30 in case i need IVF.

Would love some help and chat as ive hit a bot of a brick wall although im so close to my first goal!!

Im Sarah and we have been trying for 3yrs with PCOS.

I've lost 40 doing ww - and I have hit a wall too - nice to know others are working towards the same goals.

I think if you are getting treatment privately then bmi essentially doesn't matter - but from my understanding on the nhs you must be under 30 to get treatment. So although I have to go private - I figure under 30 is my goal because obviously results are better and risks are lower.

:D Best wishes.

Just wanted to reiterate your comments:

Privately or NHS, BMI matters a huge deal. =) As Blue12 says, our risks and rates of pregnancies are significantly different with a lower BMI. If the body is struggling to manage hormones on its own, imagine the difficulty a doctor will have, with such an imperfect science! The less dosages you need of the fertility drugs, the better you will feel. Just 10% might mean you don't even need the IVF.

Hi all, im also tryin to get my bmi below 30 i was doing so well but lately ive been on a slip n put a fair bit back on. Would love a buddy n surport.
