Poor Micah has been throwing up for the last 2 hours, largely on me and his daddy! :-( Obviously it's part of the 'job' being parents, but is it even possible that we won't catch it?! I'm a bit phobic of sickness at the best of times but this weekend is the bank holiday and we have so many plans with people we've not seen in years. :-( I know I'm going to spend all week just waiting to get ill!

Has anyone taken care of a vomiting LO and stayed healthy themselves??!

Edit: I realise I sound a bit selfish :-(

Sadly no, I always get it :/

Fingers crossed you don't x

Yeah I've escaped it several times before. I guess it depends what type of bug it is. My son was sick a few weeks ago and threw up several times but I didn't catch it off him. The same happened with my daughter a few months ago too. I think my two have a tendency the throw up if they are poorly whereas myself and OH will get ill but not throw up with it.

My daughter had a bug at 6 months, a bad one too. My OH got it but I didn't. My sisters 2 kids have just had sickness a few days ago and she and her husband are both fine so far! I think there's hope. I always spend ages obsessing about getting sick after being exposed, and it always seems to be when we have plans so I know how you feel! Hope your LO feels better soon and you don't catch it x

I think it depends on the bug. DS has had three and DH and I have only caught one of those.

I have never gotten sick by my lo so its possible! *knock on wood*

I get them all :(
But my DH only rarely catches them. I guess he has some kind of natural immunity.

My LO got a tummy bug and both my dh and mum were floored by the same thing. I did most of the looking after, cleaning up sick, he slept on me on and off all of the day, he spends most time with me - and I didn't catch it really, maybe felt mildly ill but not enough to stop me going out and doing things! You can escape!

Saying that - every cold he gets I get!

I've caught lots of colds and also hand foot and mouth disease (that was awful!) but never a stomach bug so far. I'm sure it will happen one day.

Young children often tend to get fevers and throw up with viruses that affect adults less severely. Colds often give babies a fever, and fever can lead to voniting, but as adults we don't get a fever with a cold. So you might end up with a cold or feeling a bit off without the vomiting. Good luck, hope you don't get ill and lo gets better quickly.

I've never been sick when Joni is sick. She's rarely badly sick though. I can count on the fingers of one hand how many times I've been sick in my life and it has never been more than a couple of times each go, so I guess I could have generally good immunity and I don't catch it easily? But no ice never been sick even when Joni has puked in my face. X

My kids had it 3 times last year, the final time my tummy did feel gurgley and sore but I never threw up.
Try and be meticulous when clearing up after him and get plenty of fresh air blowing through windows and doors while you are at home.

Ive managed to avoid it when LO has had the sickness bug, although I've caught a few from the kids at work before.
Washing your hands with anti-bac soap as much as you can and trying to keep everything clean. Don't touch your mouth etc until you've washed your hands when you're holding LO. Unfortunately it's one of those things and given LO was contagious for a little while before she started throwing up, odds are you're already exposed but hand washing and keeping as clean as possible makes me feel better.

Only once have I ever caught something off the kids. This week in fact! Never had a cold like it! I have just shoved a tissue up my nostril to save me having to wipe it every 2 minutes.

My LO has never yet had a vomit bug... Oh gosh, I know it's going to happen sometime and I'm not looking forward to it!
