My hubby and I have decided we are not going to give bubs a middle name, because we are having trouble choosing a name we both love, let alone another one, plus where we live the child takes mine and my hubbies surnames, so thats a mouthfull in itself.

So any of you deciding against a middle name ?

My husband doesn't have a middle name and neither do his 3 siblings. His parents have middle names though so we're not sure how they came upon the decision. It's different but it's no big deal. I had to give him a middle name so I could yell at him.:winkwink:

We'll probably give our baby a middle name though because it just seems to flow a little better...sorry that probably didn't help ya'.

Freya doesn't have a middle name. My OH is very anti them (because he hates his one), and it didn't really matter to me.
Freya's only 4, but it hasn't had any adverse effect on her so far :)

If I need to yell at her I just add Miss to the front - then I still get three names to shout!!

I wasn't going to give Helena one. I ended up giving her one, but I def. see no prob with no middle names. My best friend doesnt have one.

I don't have one or my sister and my son doesn't have one. If we have a boy he will not be having one as the name we chose doesn't need one with it.

We haven't chose a girl name yet but depending if the name is long or short will decide if we need a middle name.

I think short names are maybe in need of a little extra but long names are enogh on their own.

i dont see the need for middle names... i like how they sound tho for girls but prefer boy names without them

There's nothing wrong with not having a middle name. I wasn't born with one, but when I changed my surname at 18 years old I added 2 middle names! So maybe starting off without any middle names is the way to go, then add one/some when you're older if you fancy it lol!

its hard to work it out to have one or not to have one, me and my partener r trying for baby#1 and having been unsuccessdul so far we still been talkin about names, its hard cuz i'd love our lil one to have a middle name but oh is a bit reluctant as him bein one of 6 he was the only one not given a middle name so i think he feels if he cant have one our lil ones not allowed one either.... but im sure i'll get my own way eventually.... i usually do!
good luck with all ur decisions tho

I was just going to post a similar question, only because I'm not sure whether we should give our boy a middle name or not.
I don't have one and there are a few times in life when it would have been easier to have one, but mainly for silly reasons (eg when kids play the "let's call each other by our middle names, it'll be fun" game). I don't really have a strong feeling, but it does seem to be more "normal" to have 2 (or more) given names.

I guess we'll see when we choose a first name, if DH's middle name goes with it, he can have one, if not then perhaps we'll give it a miss.

We cant decide on a first name so at this stage i cant even bear thinking about a middle name lol!
I also dont see the point in them......i have never used mine. But then again as some ladies have pointed put on other threads i dont want my LO one to be the odd one out in her class because she's not got one iykwim.
So i just don't know what to do
