hey ya, i was lying in bed last night and i noticed my bump pulsing like a heartbeat.
is this my babys heartbeat or something else x

It's probably your heartbeat hun, mine does that. If you think how much harder your heart has to work then it makes sense xx

Yeop my placenta is in the front and my bump has pulsed all along :)

i only just noticed something similar the other day and according to the midwife it was baby practise breathing amniotic fluid. They do this to coat their lungs with surfactant which stops their lungs sticking together when they take their first real breaths when born :) and as my bump is very compact, i could see his chest rising and falling! :)
however i dont know if ur experiencing the same thing? im not sure how far gone u have to be to see it??

Its the blood vessel that runs down and feeds the placenta, I have an AP and mines always pulsed really strongly.
Thast what my m/w said it was anyway

I've had a pulse in my bump for quite a while now. I was told it was from all the extra blood flow to the baby from the placenta.

It feels weird doesn't it?

I thought the rhythmic pulsing feeling you get every so often was hiccups? x

maybe we're all having different pulsing! hee hee

Yep sure have, I assumed it was either hiccups or possibly the placenta???

My babies hiccups are like little jumps than pulses, and my placenta is at the back so I know the pulsing I get isn't anything to do with that...but the explanation of practice breathing makes perfect sense! Thanks for this post, I'd been wondering what it could be too xx

Same as noodlejuice - I have a high posterior placenta so the pulsing I get has to be hiccups! xx
