Hi ladies I am ttc #2 and I was diagnosed with low progesterone levels when try for #1 which took us 3 and a half years, we tried chase tree but didn't make any difference. I have extremely irregular cycles and a lot of the time they are annovulatory. I am just waiting for af and I am then going to go to my doc as she said she will prescribe me some progesterone to have inserted in my luteal phase just wondering if anyone has any experience with this and if so were there side effects and was it effective. I don't think I have it in me to go another 3 years trying so really want to try and nip it in the but quickly.

Wont be of much help to you but i am diagnosed with very low progesterone. My doc prescribed me Clomid. What was your level?

I wasn't diagnosed with low progesterone prior to concieving but just after. The Ob believed that is why I kept losing my pregnancies. The side effects for me where elevated pre af type symptoms just a bit more intense ( bloated, sore bb etc ) but they are also early preg symptoms too. Depending on the progesterone ..I had crinone which was a gel that was inserted vaginally... It left a really gross discharge...but so far so good, i'm now 23 weeks pregnant...Good luck!!

My levels were 2.2 and at that point in my cycle should have been 15 I think the doctor said. When I was in the chase tree I felt nauseous 24/7 and yeah very heightened pre af symptoms. What were your levels coolstar?
I was really hoping that with falling pregnant once that my levels would just go back to normal but wishful thinking I think!
Skeet how many cycles did you do before you fell pregnant? And the ones my doctor talked about are the once inserted vaginally. Do you just do it at home or do you have to go into the clinic and have it done?

I was TTc for 1.5 years and in that time I had 2 mc and an ectopic .. Finally this pregnancy as soon as they ruled out ectopic they put me on the progesterone. I could do it at home and was on a high dose (2x a day) . A warning depending on the kind it can be costly

My levels were 2.4 without medication and with 50mg Clomid it was just 4.6.Even my Doc wants a level of around 13 for a good ovulation.I have started with my 2 round of Clomid and i will update my results of CD21.Today is CD6.I have googled to find a solution for the problem but i cant find it.I am really worried now .

Yeah I thought as much even the chase tree was costing me I think 280 a month. Well I am very glad it has helped you!

Well fx that it has helped this cycle smd your levels go up!! trust me i know how completely exhausting and mind knumbung it can be with a long ttc journey i just tried to relax as much as possible as stress makes it so much worse!!
I think I am going to make an appointment with my doctor today and see how we go because you take it the day after you ovulate don't you?
When I was doing the chase tree my levels didn't even budge I honestly have no clue how I fell pregnant with my son I think it may have been my weight loss and extremely healthy life style at that stage that may have helped my levels but now they are just really low again and I am not ovulating!!!

Kirstiedenman: Yes ttc can be so much stressful :(.I try to relax but it hard when you think about it all the time.Do tell me how your appointment goes with your doc.
I have seen some ladies fall pregnant with very low progesterone like 2/3 but that is very rare.Just a few days back i read a post in bnb that she was pregnant and her level was just 1.But then they are exception not the rule.

Well I haven't ended up going to the doc yet as we live in a small country town and my doc isn't in till next week so will book am appointment for probably Tuesday but I have had 6 days of +opks but I don't think that is normal. My son was a bit of a once of baby as my levels being 2 made it uncommon so we are very very great full for him!!! It sometimes is hard to swallow all the people that can fall pregnant at the drop of a hat (everyone in my family but me!!!) but at the same I am so happy for them but still isn't easier being in this situation!!

Yes i know what you mean.I will be reaching my 1 yr mark soon and still we are in our ttc stage. When i came to know that my progesterone was so low i thought i would be popping a pill and everything will be fine. But seems it is not so easy.I am glad to find you, before i thought i am the only wacko in the whole world with so low progesterone.

I'm glad to have found this thread. I don't know what my progesterone level is but my level gets low during pregnancy. I had a miscarriage in early October and my OB put me on Prometrium to take 2 days after ov. The side effects (I think) are horrible. I feel like I'm pregnant but I'm not sure. Are any of you experiencing pregnancy like side effects with the progesterone you are taking?

LuckyMommyof2: I wont be of any help to u since i am not taking any supplements but read Prometrium helped many ladies.
skeet9924:I do temp and although my progesterone is very low i still get a thermal shift. So confusing.

Then you are still ovulating.. Which is a bonus.. It just means that if you do fertilize an egg, the low progesterone can't sustain it

I don't temp. I took my temp the day after I thought I ovulated and it was 99.1 but I haven't taken my temp since.

Even i thought so but my doc told me such a low level of progesterone means that i do not ovulate (my level that cycle was 2.4).After taking clomid my doc again told me that i have not ov (my level was 4.6) and i asked him then why I always get a thermal shift and he said that it is a weak ov and with it I cannot sustain a pregnancy.I also get +opk, fertile cm and thermal shift but still when i check my progesterone level it is below 5 (and anything less then 5 is considered no ov).

Yeah I still get a thermal shift +opk and ewcm and my tests from my doc show I have not ovulated either. You will still get a thermal shift like we do but at a lower temp usually. Mine are a lot better than they use to be but my temps are usually about .5-1c lower than the average person.
Seeing a naturopath really helped me not just in trying to get pregnant but my whole health it was amazing it was the kick start I needed to really try and take control of my fertility. It's a very long and stressful battle to go through but the end result is just amazing!
Coolstar have you decided whether or not I do supplements?

Kirstiedenman:I have started with b-complex 100 this cycle.Read so many good things about b6.I don't know whether it will help me or not but i guess i have nothing to loose.
