Our bub was diagnosed at our 20wk ultrasound, he has hypoplastic right heart (in lamens terms he has half a heart).
Id like to find ppl in a similar position to us if there are any on here??
We are 35 weeks now, due to be induced in 4wks time 11th July (so that bubs can be ready for his first surgery on the 14th July).

This is my first baby and ive heard that it can take a while with your first, and being induced can aslo take a while. Im hoping I either go into labour beforehand or being induced works nicely...if we end up having a c section i wont be able to see my boy as he'll be transfered to anthr hospital after birth.

Thnx for reading :flower:

I'm so sorry to hear you are going through this and yet so happy for you that it's going in your favor. Unfortunately I wasn't so lucky. My son was diagnosed with HLHS at 19 weeks and I lost him at 20. I feel your baby must be very strong and will get through everything he has to face when he has stuck it out this long already. I never wanted to be induced but in a case like this I think I wouldve preferred it. Then you are already in the hospital and under good care for anything that could happen. I understand your apprehension though. This baby will be a gift. I truly believe that. Congratulations!

my friends 9 yr old has has hypoplastic left heart. he has done really really well and does great at 9. good luck.

My baby had hypoplastic left heart syndrome along with lots of other problems. I was induced at 39+4. I went from zero contractions, 1 cm dialated and 80% effaced to him being born in 13 hours. And to be honest, it didn't hurt that much. I got a tattoo on my foot and that hurt much much more.

Unfortunately, my baby had too many other issues and wasn't able to have surgery.

Best of luck and be sure to ask the doctors as many questions as many times as you need to. The waiting period between his birth and the ultimate outcome was the most stressful time of my life and the only thing that made it better it that I was able to ask questions.

Hey hun my little boy is two years old, he has HRHS ( hypoplastic right heart syndrome) he also has a hole in the top 2 pumping chambers (asd) and a small pulmonary valve and abnormal tricuspid vavle.
His heart doesnt effect his normal activity. He is a lot slower when it comes to walking and running than his peers. Gains weight slowly and has lots of feeding problems, but to look at him hes like any other two year old child. Hes a very happy and sometimes naughty :D toddler!

When i was pregnant with him, they told me that hypoplastic right heart syndrome is less life threating than other heart condtions.
He was born at a special cardiac centre and spent a few days in intensive care and the childrens caridac ward, but he hasnt had any operations as of yet!

Hypoplastic means the right ventrical is too small, and as a result Rhys was born Blue. But his body has adapted to his heart and he is now a very pink boy.

If you wanna talk to other people who know what your going through, heartline is a very supportive heart condtion support group. Or pm me if you fancy a chat.

Hugs and i hope the birth goes well.

Teresa xx

Forgot to add, i was ment to be induced at 38wks but went into labour at 37, and then induced as i was dialiting slowly. I was given the drip and Rhys only took 2 hours to come out. Hope its nice and quick 4 you too. xxx
