Anyone went into labour after a hot curry before?

I do know it probably is just an old wives tale but I'm sooo big, fed up and uncomfortable so no harm in trying right?

Just ate a very hot and spicy curry from the local indian (one which was recommended by my mums friend who went into labour with both of her babies after eating it) sooo i'm now just waiting to see if it works.

I'm going to try a curry on my due date Saturday, as a treat so I'll let you know after that!!

good luck to you :hugs:

Not labour (unfortunately), but after eating loads of very hot curry Saturday the baby did drop. I am much more comfortable now. Good luck!

Thanks ladies! Here's hoping it works lol!

My SIL went into labour after a takeaway curry. I remember my brother sent a message to everyone in the morning saying 'is this the start, or just a dodgy takeaway?' We got a message later that night to say they'd had their little boy!

i dont think this would work for me as i eat really spicy curries all the time... will be giving it a go tho!lol

I don't believe curry or much of anything can set off labour. But saying that I was at a curry and comedy night scoffing a rather hot curry when I wondered whether I could be in labour as my braxton hicks were a little uncomfortable. I think they had been gradually building up during the day though.

Plus...if a hot curry DOES set of labour....you really do NOT want burning diarrhoea singeing your bum before having to push your baby out!

I ate, szechuan beef, jalfrezi indian curry and, korean spicy pork stir fry and nothing happened.. in that korean food, I put garlic, onion, hot chili paste (gochujang) hot chili flakes, 2 green chili pepper, ginger, all sort of vegs and diced pork and it was really hot to blow my nose every 5 minutes but.. no nothing..lol

Good luck though hehe!! :D

lol OH and I shared two hot curries last night (although I could only manage one spoonful of the madras which was as hot as the fires of Mount Doom) and all I have to show for it was an 'uncomfortable' trip to the loo this morning...!
