So we find it easier to pre-make bottles. My sterilser holds 4 bottles so i wash sterilse and then make all 4 and then put the straight in the fridge. Is ths right?

Ive been told that i shouldnt use water straight after the kettle has boiled i should wait 20/30 mins then make the bottles and that i shouldnt put the hot bottles straight in the fridge i should leave them on the side to cool down then put them in the fridge!!

What do you do? Am i doing it all wrong? My baby seems fine and doesnt seem to have a tummy ache or anything. He has a cold atm so is being sick quite a bit but before he got a cold he wasnt sick very often so i think its just the cold making him sick more often!

I also pre make all bottles and havnt had any problems. They say to make bottles with warm water as to kill bacteria and then put in fridge. Although i dont always do this! in the hospital they made the bottles up with any temp water and then pu in fridge :s x

We pre-make - always have done. I'm sorry but I cannot see the logic of making each one up at a time.

Way I do it.

Wash all bottles (have 4) - sterilise with boiling water.

Put powder into bottles, fill kettle and leave to boil.

Once boiled, wait until the bubbles have stopped (or until I remember what I was doing lol) and then measure out 7oz into a measuring cup, then pour into the bottles (my bottles don't have measurements on them and with the powder already in there it's not easy to measure, so I use a jug lol)

Place bottles into cold water in the sink for 15 minutes to rapid cool then put in the fridge until needed.

I usually leave one out of the fridge ready for the night feed (don't want it to be fridge cold when LO has it.
I've done this with Earl, and now with Edward. Works well.

Yep- same. We make all bottles for e day in the morning, we just wait about ten mins once kettle boiled. Then rapid cool in kitchen sink as I don't want to put hot bottles in the fridge, I heard its bad for the fridge :) then we either give them to her straight from fridge cold or warm them a little. I mix it up so she doesn't get fussy pants.

I used to make all 6 bottles up every night, put boiling hot water in them and leave them to cool down a lot before putting them in the fridge otherwise your fridge will break! I used to do this about 8pm then at 10-11pm when i went to bed i would bob them all in the fridge exept one (last feed) - easy peesy

you can leave another one out if your baby needs one during the night rather than put in the fridge but i didnt need to do that after 6 weeks my baby slept soundly through the night and didnt wake up for a feed untill 6-7am

I think the guidelines may be different in the US, but I always pre-make bottles. My LO drinks 4 during the day and I make them all first thing in the morning. One she drinks right away, the second two go to daycare and the fourth I keep in the fridge until her bedtime routine.

The guidelnes state we should make all bottles as we need them, I don't. I pre make my bottles with the formula and store in fridge. I let kettle cool for about 15 minutes, make up bottles, rapid cool in cold water then put in fridge. Been doing this since DD was 5 weeks and she's been fine x

I make up my bottles for the day with boiling water. Cool them then put them in the frisge. We invested in a Tommee Tippee bottle water and it's a godsend especially at night - DH runs downstairs to the kitchen, gets a bottle out the fridge and puts it in the warmer. By the time i've changed LOs nappy, had a bit cuddle (3-4mins) bottle is warm and ready for feeding :) xx

I have the bottle warmer too but i dont like it much cos it doesnt automatically turn off when its done so its easy to get distracted and make the bottle to hot so then i have to cool it down again! Youd think as it has 3 settings it would turn itself off after a few mins according to the which setting its on but its better than having boiling water around in jugs! :)

why do a lot of you cool the bottles down in water before putting them in the fridge? I put my bottles straight in the fridge after ive made them while they are still hot! Is this bad? Ive always done it and little man is ok! x

I pre make bottles for the day and then in the evening I make enough for through the night and first bottle of te next morning.
I was mixing them as needed but its to much to do when you have a crying hungry baby!

dont worry it wont hurt lo. it raises the temp of the fridge so may make your food go off

I premake my bottles, always have done. Well apart from the first week when he was on the 'starter pack bottles', if you know what I mean.

I make them in the morning, to last all day. Let the kettle cool for 10 mins then they get shaken then in the fridge they go :)

As long as they are used within 24 hours, and he has never had a problem!
