I didnt take any vitamins when i BF my daughter. Was just wondering if anyone is taking pregnacare for BFing? If so what beniefits is there for doing so?I just saw these my bounty pregnancy book but no info on them as to what they do and how they help breastmilk. My baby will be born on the 23rd of this month via c section so i want to get prepared to do it all over again:thumbup:If taking pregnacare is all good then when should i start taking them?Ive only got 14 days left at the most if he/she doesnt want to come sooner:winkwink:

Thanks Bernie and bump:flower:

I started taking them because I was having mega problems with my teeth and thought perhaps I wasn't having enough calcium for the two of us (i'm not big on dairy stuff...). Its just an insurance policy. I still take them now as Evan doesn't seem overly fussed on food and I worry about him getting all the vits he needs. I took the pregnacare pregnancy vits until he was born and only found the bf ones about two months after he was born. If you want just take them from the day LO arrives I guess.....good luck!

Bella's doctor always asks me if I take my vitamins. I keep forgetting so not taking it regularly. But he never gets tired of repeating over and over again how important it is for my body because she's taking ALL my vitamins.

The benefits are for you not your breastmilk hun....it's just extra vitamins and minerals:thumbup:

I've always taken a multivitamin and switched to a prenatal while TTC, took that through the pregnancy, and then switched back to my regular multivitamin after the birth. I think it helps keep my energy levels up during the lack of sleep and while the baby is taking a lot of nutrients from me as well.

^^ wss :)
i take the sanatogen new mother ones, they have practically the same in them as pregnacare (and also the mother to be ones) i spent ages comparing labels lol!!!

Ok thanks ladies i think i will go and have a look next time im in boots:thumbup:

I continued taking the Pregnacare pregnancy ones after pregnancy (had loads from Boots 2-4-1 offer) since they finished I've got a vegetarian DHA supplement as the bf one has fish oil in it. Going to check out the Sanatogen one.

I don't take pregnacare but I am still taking a prenatal/post-natal multivitamin everyday.

i took the pregnacare pregnancy ones throughout my pregnancy, then switched to the pregnacare breastfeeding multivitamins & omega/ dha oil calpsules once he was born. I figure I'm a junk eater, so it wouldn't hurt to have some extra good stuff going into me, lol.

Asda ones ardor half the price and identical ingrediemts except slightly more of one thing.

Most important reason to take them is for the calcium they contain. In order for your breastmilk to be calcium-rich, your body will take calcium from your bones and teeth if you don't have a large enough dietary intake, and this can lead to early bone thinning, and teeth problems (hence free dentistry for new mothers).
