My OB/gyn prescribed Femara to help with ovulation. Clomid was not doing the trick!

My period went missing since January so he also gave me Prometrium but I ended up starting on my own... about 2 1/2 months late!

Just curious if anyone has thoughts or personal experience being on Femara. I'm nervous about using it after reading that it is used for breast cancer patients.

Thanks in advance.

I am not using it, but am hoping to start next month. Have you started it yet? I would really appreciate any advice or information.

I will be starting Femara next, I was on clomid but it thinned my lining so bad I couldent keep a pregnancy.

I have heard femara does not have a effect on the lining like clomid.
also I know of many women who have had a successful pregnancy after taking it.

Hi everyone ttc with Femara or thinking about using femara!

I use femara for June,July,August 2009 and got a BFP
i had no negative side effect other than mcc at 8 weeks, it was not due to the femara.. I had testing done an need progesterone cream or suppositories to help me carry...

I loved femara it works to lower you estrogen to help your follicles mature, It also helps CM to be egg ready and best of all it clears your system fast so it will not cause any harm to the pregnacy.. And does not increase your chances of twins or multiples...

Femara is also reccommened for those with PCOS.

I began using femara in feb2010 and am now on my third month, I also purchased a clearblue fertility monitor that has worked perfectly this cycle.. I am hoping for a BFP on my birthday may 1st!!!

Good luck and I highly reccommened Femara !!!

Femara Can be a little pricey, compared to Clomid..

However, on the Femara website,
They offer a free 30 day trial, all you have to do is Print the coupon on the website and have your doctor sign it, and Wha LaH its free...!(I took mine to Walmart and it worked perfectly..)

or you can order it from BigMountainDrugs online (Canadian Pharmacy)
thats where i currently order mine from.. its easy and quick and so far meds work like their suppose to!
(I believe its called "fempro" in Canada...)

:dust: to everyone!

I found this coupon a while back and will defo be printing it! Does anyone know about how much it costs for a months worth?

When the DR. prescribed my Femara, he ordered 10 pills (5mg x 5 days) but the pharmacy only sold it by the bottle (30 pills/ 3 month supply)as it is a special order item, in small towns like mine. So my DR. change the order, which was better as I didn't have to keep going to the pharmacy or Dr., I paid about $250 for a bottle, I believe Costco had the best price if your paying cash for your prescriptions(but they will not except the coupon, Walmart worked for me).

My fs gave this to me (never even tried clomid) to use for my iui cycle. I found I had a lot of spotting which I have never had before, but I am still very hopeful.

Fxed for you blue!

I'm sure I will have the money when the time comes. Defo going to print out that coupon! I go to walmart for all my stuff so hopefully they dont have a prob with it.

If you really look at most of the side effects listed they are for someone with a suppressed immune system. My Dr explained because I wasn't responding to Clomid, and I did to the Femara that my body likely needed something that lowered my estrogen level so that my follicles would develop. Clomid was also thinning my uterine lining and drying my CM. On my next scan my lining was perfect and I had CM again. I was also thrilled to not have a head ache. The other thing is Clomid stays in your system longer and Femara metabolizes out of the system faster. 5 mg of Femara and 500 mg of metformin has been my lucky charm twice so far and I am hoping it is once again!

Do you have PCOS? Just wondering if metformin can be used in patients without PCOS or not.

Just joining this thread as femara might be an option for me if this cycle doesn't work out.

Good luck ladies!!! And thanks SunShyne for your words of encouragement :hugs:

I do have PCOS. I am not insulin resistant. My blood sugar is actually pretty low. I have a higher testosterone level and it helps to lower the testosterone and helps with the estrogen receptors.
