Hi I was wondering if anyone uses Pepti Junior for their LO? My Lo suffers terribly with tummy pain, cramps, screamimg when feeding, very unsettled and horrendous wind, the lady on the Aptamil line mentioned this milk and I am going to the doctors tomorrow. wondered what other peoples experience of this milk is. x

Havent heard of it but didnt want to read and run, have you tried infacol? works with my LO

Mine is the same Hun I can sympathise with you. What milk are you on we're on comfort & hAve been given Neocate to trial. It's much thinner & tastes rank your lo may need a hypo milk to calm things down gps tend to prescride nutramigen give it a go the younger they are the easier it is to get them on it.

Hi thanks so much for replying!! Peti junior is a hypo milk, where the milk proteins are heavily broken down unlike the milks you mentioned where I don't think there is any milk in it at all?? I could be wrong, doc seemed to think it was first step b4 using the other prescription milks which taste worse . I haven't changed her over yet as she has had a good weekend, I just don't know what to do really as have heard good and bad about pepti junior, its hard work isn't it!! xx

we are on Aptamil comfort at the moment and it has been a life saver. The Peti junior is made by cow and gate, it is completely lactose free and very broken down, I don't think it is any good for a child with a true milk allergy because it does till contain cows milk. x

Hi Noree how is your lo mow? We're trying to wean onto Neocte and not much luck, your right Neocate has no milk it its made up from amino acids.

Hiya, we still haven't started it as firstly my stoooooopid doctors:growlmad: messed up my prescription and now today my chemist have messed it up :growlmad:!! I am so annoyed as I sent my poor old dad to the chemist tonight (I finally got prescription sorted at docs and called chemist yesterady 9.30am and they said it would be ready today after 5, now it will be tomorrow after 11am...she should have started it last week!!!) So hopefully we will get a chance to try it tomorrow. Feel for you trying to get you baba to take the new milk, people have told me how awful it is, I hope it gets better for you soon. I will keep you posted on the pepti junior, tomorrow we will be going for it!! xx

Dinkiedo how did your little one getting on with the comfort milk b4 you changed to hypo milk? did it help a little ( I understand obviously not enough to stay on it)? If you don't mind what are your LO's symtoms, just wondering. My LO does seem so much better on comfort but she is just still not 'right' if you know what I mean, but I don't feel that her intolerance is very very bad as she does mostly tolerate the comfort, well in comparison to the way she was a few weeks ago I do feel she is much improved. Dunno, we have good days and really bad days. My LO seems to have terrible cramps and is so unhappy that on a bad day she just cries all day long and can't be helped, her tummy makes loud noises and she screams alot when drinking, her wind is vile ( I know that is partly comfort) Sorry to ramble x x

Hi Noree,
We 'spoke' a few weeks back on the Zantac/rantidine thread. How is Kitty getting on? Freya is still bad with her silent reflux. We're still using the ranitidine 0.4ml x 3 but have stopped the zantac as it was making her worse. I've read that it can make silent refluxers worse as it is thicker and when it does come up it takes longer to go back down the oseophagus so hurts for longer.
We have an appointment with a paediatrician tomorrow so hopefully we'll get some more advice. I think they will want to change her formula and I've been looking into nutrimigen. I also thinks she needs losec mups (omeprezole) and perhaps domperidone as the ranitidine just isn't helping. My poor little one is still screaming most the time she is awake :-(
I'm also concerned about the fact that she has a definite tilting head and apparently this can happen with refluxers who flex their necks when in pain.
Helen xx

Hi Helen, poor little Freya I feel so sorry for the both of you! Hopefully the paed will sort things out and it sounds like you know what your after which always makes a difference when you go to speak to these doctors. Well Kitty started and stopped her pepti junior today after just 2 bottles! It was a disaster and she screamed her heart out drinking it , then spent hours with the milk travelling up and down her throat and fianlly got sick everywhere, she continued to choke and splutter for hours, it really brought her reflux symptoms back full force which shocked me. I know the HV and GP will say I should have tried for longer but it scared me silly seeing her gagging and choking even when she was napping. I gave her a bottle of comfort (which she threw the lot up) and then another little bit of comfort before bed and she had settled alot. Her symptoms in general have lesened and we are luckily having more good days than bad, thing is I wake up every day nervous as I never know whath the day will be like. Would love to know how you get on tomorrow. Good luck x x

Hi Noree
Just back from the paediatrician now. He has prescribed nutramigen to rule out a cows milk allergy as there is a strong family history of it. He has upped the ranitidine to 0.6ml x 3 and then I've got to ring him back in a week. If it doesn't work then the next step is definitely a combination of omeprezole and domperidone or erythromycin.
Fingers crossed hey?
Helen xx

Hi there Noree my lo was absolutely awful on normal milk hence the reason we changed to comfort... she was still unsettled & referred to a paed who prescribed Ranitidine & Gaviscon which tbh didn't make any difference, she was then seen again and given Omperazole (Losec mups) they have definately made a difference with the burn however she's still refluxing. I'm now starting to think Isla must have a mild intolerance as she seems to tolerate the comfort but like your lo she's still not right. We like you have bad days and on those day I feel so low as I'm battling at every feed to get milk into her, as soon as the milk hits her tummy you can hear her tummy rumbling with wind and she'll reflux (milk up and down the back of throat) for up to 3 hrs after a feed, refluxing out her nose which really frightens her, she's also very windy (bottom end) & has very loose explosive nappies sometimes with mucus in them sometimes not. Generally she's pretty unhappy as she seems in discomfort, she aslo doesn't sleep for very long half an hour her and there and very poor over night wakening every 2 hours which I find absolutely exhausting. We tried Neocate for a day or so and complete disaster like you with the pepti. She was only taking around 15oz milk, screaming, arching, couldn't get her wind & her reflux was even worse. Tbh I think now her throat is red raw with the burn, she's now constipated and crying because of that yesterday was the lowest day I've yet with her, my mum came last night to give us a sleep and we spoke between, mum hubby & I we decided that the comfort is the best option as least she takes it (with a struggle) & she manages the toilet no bother on it. I'm also going to crack on now with weaning her I feel better now I've decided that's what I'm doing as the last few I didn't know whether I was coming or going.

How's your wee one now the poor wee sole?

Helen I would push for the omep we saw a difference in our lo when she went on that.

xx

Hi Helen, I am so glad you are getting somewhere I think sometimes just making the hospital aware of your situation is a start and the fact that you are getting to review within a week is fantastic, my GP is handling everything and I have so little faith in them I really want to be referred. I really hope the new combi works for Freya, and if it doesn't you can get cracking with something else quickly, I just can't imagine how you are doing this all with twins??!! I am out of my mind with just Kitty. Please let me know how things r when you get the chance xx

Dinkiedoo how old is your LO? I am counting the days until I can wean Kitty and feel if she is at all ready I will not be waiting for 6 months, she needs something else in that tummy! It's great you have your mum to help and also to talk things over with, my mum was annoyed with me today that I gave up on the pepti so fast, but she wasn't watching Kitty reflux out of her nose the same as your poor little baby, it's so scary isn't it? My MIL and husband feel that sticking with comfort is the way to go so that's made me feel a little better at least. keep me updated with the weaning it is great when you feel like your going to do next it makes me feel so much better, lol like trying the pepti made me feel better for 5 minutes! but we gotta try and I really feel weaning is the way to go! xx
