anyone's section wound glued closed??

hi,

i'm booked for a section in jan.

my doc closes the incision with glue instead of stiches or staples.

i heard its much better doing it this way and it barely leaves a scar. also you don't have to cover your wound when showering etc.

anyone had theirs glued before that can give me more info and their experience?

Hi there,

Mine was stitched closed but they encouraged me to shower with it not covered and just to make sure that I dried properly and allowed the air to get to it to help the healing - just in case anything changes re glue/stitching

I had that with my c-section. You don't have to cover it. Just pat it dry afterwards. I have a very small scar. The steri strips they put on top of it will come off more and more with each shower. Just be careful and everything will be fine. Good luck!

Apparently I had glue and staples. I was so freaked out for weeks the incision would reopen but everything was fine. I also heard there is barely a scar when using the glue. My scar is very thin but still visible, maybe it will fade with time.

I had the same thing done with my incision, and I can tell you that after almost 4 years, it's barely noticeable.

My hospital does not use staples. I had tiny dissoluble stitches with glue. I have only a tiny scar. I had my husband take a pic (upside down). Sorry for the random hair, I am working on that!

lol thanks! is this from after 8 months? i saw your ticker says your baby is 8 months now?

all the info is great, thanks ladies!! i had a laparoscopy before to remove a cyst and i had stitches for that and its been more than a year and the marks are still visable. i don't mind having a scar for my section though just wondered if the glue makes a difference in the healing and so on.

Yes, it is. I heard if you are a larger woman that it may not heal as well, but I do not know for sure. Mine is way down low, so if I want to wear a bikini it will not show. Down side is since it is so low in bikini line, I have to pluck hairs that grow on incision (TMI) or they might get ingrown.
