My lo is slightly colicky so i have switched him over to Aptamil Comfort formula and Dr Browns bottles which is helping quite a bit, but i'm now finding that the formula seems to be blocking up the level 1 teat - is this normal? I have bought level 2 teats, but of course this flows to quickly for my LO.

Would love some advice on what to do

Dr. Browns teat flow is slower than other bottles. u can give teat 2 a try. We were on teat 3 at 2.5 mnths (we'r using Aptamil AR which is also thicker than normal formula). Or maybe the formula is not desolved well this is why it's blocking the teat. try using a baby spoon or a knife to give it a good stir & see how it goes . xx

Hi Janidog...

We switched to Dr Brown Bottles when my boy was about 4 weeks old and not long after that, we switched to comfort milk too.

Straight away, we had to put size 2 teats for the powered milk (but used size 1 teats for the aptamil carton milk). When he got to about 4 months old, he was then ready to switch up to size 3 teats.

Yup, the milk blocked the teats for us too occassionally. I would just pull the bottle out of his mouth and with a muslin cloth, quickly and gently pull/yank on the end/tip of the teat (really hard to explain!) but the hole would unblock and I would give the bottle back.

They are good bottles...hope the combination of Dr Brown & Comfort improves your LO colic! We still gave infacol as well.

I use the tomee tipee variflow teats, they are also anti colic and the teats are great for the comfort aptamil.x

comfort is a thicker formula, so you should be using a level 2 if you were on level 1 with the first stage formula.

I use Tommee Tippee anti colic bottles and teat. The teat is size 1 and I use Aptimil comfort and it flows fine.

i have this problem. I use dr browns but i can't for the life of me get the milk through a size 2 teat, so i am resorting to using size 3 teats which are too fast! dr browns suggested their Y shaped teats, (well you may as well just give the baby a mug of milk) it flowed everywhere!! no good whatsoever pounds and pounds later.

the comfort milk i am hoping is gonna work as my baby just will not poo. she goes about 10 days between pooing and is on lactulose also with no avail.

aptamil says their experiments showed that comfort milk fits through the level 2 teat but i just can't get it to work even making them up fresh each time! its just stuck! i have spent a fortune on bloody teats and milks!! shame they don't do a carton for aptamil comfort!

dr brown bottled do a thicker milk teat. I have not seen them in many places but try a large boots store. I think its called varied flow or something. We had this problem. And stage 2 where to much. I normally found if i stired milk rather that shaked it it didnt happen as much. It wasnt long before stage 2 teets where ok.
