I have just recently switched from the standard Aptamil to Aptamil Comfort. Does anyone know if I can still use the Aptamil ready made cartons on days out? If not, how can I bring my LO's feeds for the day with me? I currently half prepare bottles in advance by boiling half the water needed, rapid cooling it and leaving it in the fridge until needed when I top up with the other half of freshly boiled water and add formula. I have a cool bag which is good for 4 hours. Thanks.

I use a flask. I have two. One at home which I pour in boiling water as and when needed throughout the day and another smaller one for travel. I have powder pots ( Tommee tippee do them) with mini lids that are the same size as the scoops inside formula tubs. Just take an empty bottle or two out with you, use a flask of water and take out e.g two little powder pots. The flask is great as the water can cool down to a nice warm temperature after a while and there is no need for cooling or warming.

See, I'm all confused about using a flask (baby brain!) Do you add the boiling water straight into the flask or wait 30 minutes? How do you know its the right temperature when you need it?

What I usually do in the mornings is boil the kettle, make one bottle for his breakfast and cool that one down whilst he is eating, I then pour the rest of the boiled kettle water straight after boiling into the flask ready for later bottles through the day. The water then cools down anyway ready for more bottles later on ( rather than the tiresome task of boiling a kettle and waiting 30 mins every time to make a bottle - you'll have ready made, cooled boiled water at hand quickly). Some flasks you can buy keep that water at a nice warm temperature for most of the day. To be honest if the water is too cold, warm it up a bit again by placing the made up milk in a container of hot water / bottle warmer and if it's too hot, cool the bottle down by placing it in cold water, simples.

As long as baby is drinking water that has been boiled effectively at the beginning and is at a nice temperature for them when they drink it then there is no problem :)

I always took a ready made carton and a sterilised bottle with us. She usually hardly drank any though as she could tell the difference once she got older!
