Are all nursing/maternity bras hideous?

Or just the ones in my size? I am already fairly busty to begin with, so the bras I've been looking at/buying are so awful.

I am bursting out of my old bras already. There are basically no nursing bras that really fit in the stores I have been to.

All I can find that seem like they'll be comfortable in fit are either beige, white or black and look like something prescribed by a doctor for an orthopedic problem!

I ordered a couple online in the next size up from what I have been wearing, plus a few bigger than that. I was relieved when they arrived (I've been getting deep marks and rashes from my other bras) and immediately put one on. I kind of chuckled in disbelief and turned to my husband. He looked at me weird and said "What's that for?" and I cried. It's so horrible, it's not even recognizable as a bra!

My husband felt really bad. He is totally new to the baby realm of things and has seen a lot of weird things and been like "What's that?". He thought it was some kind of contraption to help me pump or something.

UGH. I hate them!!!!

Where are you from? And how much do you want to spend?

I'm in the UK and I've picked up some nice ones from Marks and Spencers. But Panache and Hot Milk also do some nice ones, although they're a little more pricey.

I am in the U.S. I don't really want to spend any more since I've already spent nearly $100 on ugly bras. I might spend some more to have at least on that isn't basically the ugliest thing in the world.
:(
I'll look at those places online and see if any ship to me.

I am used to having to spend $30-$50 on bras to get good quality, pretty ones that actually fit.

ETA: M&S has zero bras in my size. Hot Milk has four, three of which are just plain solid white, black and beige and one is kind of pretty, but even on the B-cup model, it doesn't look too supportive and IDK if it's worth $40+shipping to try. Panache has 14, but only 4 that aren't just plain, solid color bras. They are all over $60.

Thanks for the tips though! At least I know there is something out there. If they don't go back to my normal size after a while of nursing, I might be in the market for another one. If only to not have to spend the next year+ in something that looks like a spine correcting brace.

These are both out of stock.
Didn't see any nursing bras from Asda in my size. Thanks for the links though! If their international shipping is reasonable it might be cheaper to get other maternity stuff from there and ship it.
Or I'll may my brother a list and have him bring everything home for me at Christmas! :haha:

Maybe try Amazon? Its basically every online store in one place so may make things easier.

I know your pain, I've found that anything above a C are ugly or are super plain and boring. I started out as a 34 DD, almost DDD, and I managed to find a decent bra at Motherhood in a DD for $28 but I grew out of it faster than I thought, now I'm about an E, and now unless I want to spend a boat load on a bra I am stuck with making sure I'm tucked in right or just deal with under boob poking out. I'm not spending any more money on bras until I know what my final size is going to be, I don't want to buy a new bra that fits (ugly or cute) just to end up exploding when my milk comes in and have it not fit.

I will be stalking this though to find a place to hunt when I know the size I need. Good luck finding something that works

Yep! I adore Amazon! It's where my wedding registry was and my baby registry will be.
Again, mostly finding boring/ugly stuff! Oh well...guess I'm stuck with it. Maybe I'll get inspired and handy and add some lace or some jazz to my Dr.Scholl's looking bras.

I feel you! I started out as a D/DD (depending on the cut/fit) and am not 100% falling out of my D cups and my DDs are mostly leaving me with under-boob spillage. Unfortunately, because of the heat and humidity here (or maybe I just boob sweat a lot??!!) I get an AWFUL rash no matter how much powder I keep under there. I've taken to using my old chalk bag from pool to carry in my purse and reapply throughout the day :)

I feel you on the rash too, I sweat a lot in general and summer wasn't too bad here surprisingly but there was some pretty brutal weeks and whenever I sweat I got really bad under boob sweat too and developed a rash. I would have to start applying deodorant under them to prevent any chafing and sometimes I would even stick some gauze pads between my ribs and boobs to help prevent friction and it'd help absorb some of the sweat and it helped quite a bit

I use a creamy dove antiperspirant there too. It helps, it just doesn't do it for all day. That's when I use the baby powder/chalk bag combo.
Florida is just miserably tropical. I love it, but sometimes it takes a lot to stay reasonably cool and dry.
Oh the joys of big boobs! Everyone thinks they are all fun and games...

I don't think there's such a thing as a maternity/nursing bra that is both pretty and affordable! I'm prepared to just start taping my boobs to my chest as it's frustrating me that much trying to find anything decent! :haha:

Go to Nordstrom. They can fit you and convert most bras into nursing bras.

oooooohhh!! I didn't know they could/would convert them!

We don't have a Nordstrom here, but I am sure that there's one near places we're traveling soon.

Thanks!!

These DO NOT run true to size!! If anyone else is looking for these, I'd try to find a store with them (I live in a college town, so not a lot of maternity/nursing selection in our store!) and try them on. The ones in the store didn't fit, so I ordered bigger sizes online. They are all over the map as far as size/fit. They are a fabulous price. I might have had more patience if I could have tried them on in the store. After two rounds of returns I gave up.

Sign up for the Target credit/debit card and at lest you don't have to pay shipping if you need to buy online.

Aw, that's a bummer! I love mine, although I have teeny boobs.

Yay! I am glad you found some good ones.
I feel like whenever I go bra shopping there is a multitude of adorable bras in A-C cups and ALWAYS on sale!! Tell me, what's it like? To go to the Victoria Secret semi-annual sale and have more than one bin in your cup size? Or even have your size bin to have more than 3 bras in it???
