We don't tell anyone the names we've chosen, so it's hard to get perspective. My DH likes all of them and we've been in agreement for awhile now, but recently he mentioned they were a little out there...and he is SET, and I mean SET!, on having Amadeus or Amadeo as a boy name (I have at least gotten him to agree on it as a middle name LOL)

I love Axl (or spelling Axel, haven't decided)...thoughts on Axl Amadeo? (Aw-muh-day-o).

We also really like Arick, same pronunciation as Erick, but with an A...I saw it on a Viking thing & it just seemed right (I'm Erica and this spelling of Erick has always seemed a bit feminine, because of that E lol)

Anyways, too strange? Which do you prefer? Arick or Axl with mn Amadeo.
Where we live (southern US) there is a heavy Mexican-American culture, & we don't know any kids with the names we've chosen, which is semi-important to us.

Our girl names are
Evelyn (because I love nn Evie)
Elissa

I like arick more. Both sound good with Amadeo.

I like Axel Amadeo (Amadeus works as well), but really not a huge fan on the spelling of Arick.

I like Axel, but not Arick. If you go with Arick he'll constantly be having it misspelled, will be unable to find his name on any toys/mugs/touristy things which can be quite hurtful when you're young.

I like your girl names but not your boys.
I would definitely go with Eric as a spelling.

I like Arick but would pronounce it "ah-rick". If your pronunciation of Arick sounds like Eric, I'd stick with the e-spelling. Or "Erick"? Anyway, Arick Amadeus or Eric Amadeus would be my favourites.
Where I'm from, Axel is a middle aged man's name, and typically associated with low education. So l can't get on board with it, just can't get past those associations.

I like both Evelyn/Evie and Elissa but Evelyn is my firm favourite.

Axel Amadeo/Amadeus is awesome!!
Arick is fine but since you're name is Erica I think that's too similar.

Evelyn is adorable!

None of these names are too out there IMO

I like them personally. I suppose if you're worried you could try thinking it out in different scenarios. For example lawyer, teacher, shopkeeper, CEO, holiday rep etc. Would there be any situation where any of the names would feel out of place? Let's face it, none of us know where our kids will end up in life.
Honestly, the only one that sticks a little in more formal situations for me is Axl/Axel. I'd still use it but I'd probably go with something a little more traditional, like Alexander (or something similar) on the birth certificate but call him Axl every day. You'd never have to use the full name, or even tell people about it but it'd be there as a fallback just in case he decides he wants to use it one day.
That's what we've done with all of ours. We never use full names, only for forms and official stuff. Other than family most people don't even know Mia's name is Amelia :haha:

I'm not a fan of Axl, it's a bit too harsh for my liking. Plus I've known like 3 cats named Axl/Axel so there's a pretty strong cat association for me. :haha:

I actually don't mind Arick and I'm usually a fan of traditional spelling. I might give it a softer 'a' sound like pp said but honestly I like that pronunciation too.

Evelyn is lovely. :)

Thanks for the input everyone! My husband also thinks Arick would be pronounced with a softer A, not like Erick.
We have an Alexander so maybe Axel is just too similar...which is why I was thinking of the spelling Axl.
I don't know, I like Anthony a lot too now, lol (yes, boy A names!)

I LOVE Evelyn too...the nickname Evie is just SO cute :)
Where do you live, if you don't mind?? Up until a couple weeks ago, I had never met an Axl in real life (heard of it in a tv show and a band/ Guns N Roses). We met a man from Germany a few weeks ago and his name was Axel, so I wondered if it was more popular there?

Just a thought too, upon more thinking, Axel sounds quite similar to a**hole if you slightly mispronounce it. Somewhat far-fetched, but thought I'd throw that in there for you to assess.
Alex and Axel are a cute sibset! I like the similarity

Omg!!!! I didn't even think of that but you are so right! Especially the way a baby would say it :(
Thanks for pointing that out...

Sorry. It's an awesome name, I've thought about using it too but that put me off. Bummer

The only name I like out of the ones you've suggest is Arick, but I would 100% recommend going with the Eric spelling otherwise he'll be correcting people for the rest of his life. That being said, if my name was Erica I wouldn't name my son Eric. Perhaps have Eric or Arick as a middle name?

Haha, you caught me! Yeah, I'm from Germany originally and yes, there are quite a few middle aged Axels there. It's considered a stereotypical "ugly" name there and I think every German will think of a macho, beer drinking, denim jacket wearing, moustachioed boy racer with a mullet. So I just can't shake that association but I guess that won't be the case for most Americans. :haha:
I have to say though, with his brother being Alexander, I'd stay away from it anyway. LOVE Anthony though! And Anthony Kiedis beats Axel Rose any day. :haha:

:D
Yeah, I am liking Anthony more and more, currently is my front runner!
That is so funny about the name Axel...and you are from Germany!!! *the Axel we met didn't have a mullet, but was a bit rough...lol
And the red hot chili peppers are pretty cool but I will always love me some GNR <3
Really though, I just couldn't stand hearing my littlest calling him "A$$hole" :haha:

My friend has a boy named Axel, I think it's cute! Not a fan of Arick
