I've currently had my hair done it was dark brown and I want to for back to blonde. The hairdresser has put pre lightener on it on two separate occasions using a streaking hat n this time for some reason it's gone an orange colour. I'm going to dye it myself tomorrow but just looking for some advice as to what colour I need or what I am best of doing ??? My friend has said get a streaking kit and do that a few times to take the orangeness out of it but I'm out at the weekends and want it to look a really nice colour of blonde quite bright !!!

What colour do you suggest ? What make is the best n will take to my hair n make a big difference ? Plz someone help I'm considering cancelling my night out coz my hair looks so bad at the moment

You shouldn't have left the hairdressers! One thing I would recommend is getting a good toner and a silver shampoo to take out the yellow tones - really though the only thing that will fully fix it is having it lightened again. If your hair isn't in good condition after having it lightened twice then you should leave it a little while. You should get a really good deep conditioner for it and that should help a bit. If I were you, I would do as little as possible to it yourself (sometimes you can end up making it worse). If you have a salon supplies near you, there shouldn't be a problem putting your own toner on. Also chemists tend to sell silver shampoo (old people use it!!) and its around £2.50 a bottle - totally worth it, and I used to leave mine on a while :)

Good Luck!! xx

I've done a deep conditioning treatment on it n also used silver shampoo n conditioner on it last nite n of anything it looks more ginger if that's possible. I was going to buy a box dye tomorrow are there any ones you'd suggest ? My hair is in good condition my hairdresser said n I really really need to do somethin about this :-(

I wouldn't of left the hairdressers with my hair looking orange. Why didn't she put a toner on it? Or atleast do a strand test before she put the lightener on it? I had my hair highlighted the other day, went from brown... And got blonde highlights..? My sister who's a trainee did it.. But we checked what colour it would go before we used it on my hair?
Hope you get it sorted. I wouldn't dye it myself though! Go back to where you had it done and get them to fix it xxx

My hair didn't look that bad when I first looked but then when I got in the car n looked properly n at home under natural light it just looks awful :-( my hairdresser is on holiday this week so can't do it again for me n I can't afford to go back to the hairdressers which is why I'm gonna try do somethin with it myself tomorrow.

I could actually cry right now :-(

A box dye won't help much, if you want it a really bright blonde then you need to bleach it and then put a toner on it. Only use bleach if your hair is in a good condition. Use 30 vol on your roots and 40 on the rest of your hair, and do your roots last. Your hair has to go orange before you get to blonde, but your hairdresser shouldn't of left it like that, I would at least get your money back.

Do a strand test before the bleach, it needs to get to a very pale yellow before putting a toner on it that's if you want it a nice platinum colour.

I'm not a hairdresser but I regularly go from dark to blonde quite easily with bleach. Do another deep condition after the bleach and leave it to rest a few days before doing the toner. x

What would be the reason for it being orange more near my roots and the top of my head rather than anywhere else? When im looking at it now it is blonde the further down my hair like right near the ends is blondeish !!!!

I'm nt too sure mines normally the other way round... My blonde is brighter on top than ends and that's because of the dye I've had on my hair previously (red and brown) xx

It seems she hasn't left it on long enough, honestly I'd be fuming!! Try not to worry you can correct it yourself easily enough if you want to, it's not as hard as some people think.

I use this all the time and swear by it, not many places stock it so you might need to order online. It's a bit pricey but worth it, you might need two boxes if you have longer hair but one was enough for me with medium length.

Bleach

I remember the first time I tried to go blonde, I had to wear a hat everywhere lol! Best thing to do is not panic. x

I used to be bright blonde n everyone told me to go dark so i did and at first liked it but then started to hate it n now wish i'd never bothered i just want my old hair back :(

Trying not to panic but the more i look at my hair the more i hate it arrgghh

Have a look on YouTube, there's tonnes of videos showing you how to go blonde. If you do get a box dye, Nice n Easy do the best ones which might help temporarily. x

As a hairdresser i know that taking someone from dark to blonde can be a long winded process if its to be done properly without killing your hair.
you have some choices, you need it done again on your problem area's using a high percentage of peroxide.
or you can bleach your whole head yourself but you may end up with terrible patchy bits, a burnt scalp and very damaged hair.
or you go back to a brown (it needs to red tones not ash or you will go green.)
or
there is a product called colour b4 in superdrug if you've only dyed it brown on top of your blonde (and its bleach) it should theoretically go back to blonde.

your hairdresser shouldnt have left you like that without explaining to your before doing it that you need it done a few times and she definatley should have tested your hair there is no excuse for not doing it, then you would have know what it was going to look like.

^^ WSS and tbh, going from brown to blonde, I would have probs done it gradually with highlights, you can end up really wrecking your hair with bleach. I would make a complaint at the hairdressers. Sorry thats no help! xx

Stripping is really bad for your hair. I was a dark brown and wanted to go back blonde, I avoided stripping it. I used a bleaching kit, worked really well, it was a lovely light blonde but if you leave it for a while, treating it with conditioner every few days then use a desired colour to tone it down a little depending how blonde you want it.

When i was in your situation, i just used 2 boxes (ive got thick long hair) of clairol nice and easy ultra light ash blonde, then i washed it with a silver shampoo mixed with a drop of my normal shampoo and it wasn't brassy nomore.
The silver shampoo seemed to dry my hair out (more than the dying) but i just used a deep conditioner and everything was fine xx
