ever since my mum put a pear in our bio bin we've been getting some unwanted visitors - fruit flies!

anyone have any tips on getting rid of these damn things? we've tried to eliminate the food sources but they just seem to keep coming back. we don't even buy fruit!

we don't leave food out either. I would have thought they'd die off with this cold weather but nooooo they're happy warm in our flat!!!!

Uh I don't have a clue but that must be so annoying I hate those flies. Where exactly are they I'd try bleach everything!! Hopefully someone will have an answer for you hun, not what you want at Christmas is it! x

What I do is grab a bag that has no holes in not a huge one, then put a piece of fruit or fruit bread in it leave it open a bit, use a clear bag so u can see wait a few hours for them to go in the bag then slowly walk up to it and quickly close the bag and take it outside and let them fly out then try again till they are all gone, worked for me :)

Will try that, thanks!

We did try a fruit fly trap with orange juice and washing up liquid. It worked quite well, but it wasn't very pleasant having bowls of dead fruit flies hanging about    They always seem to return with that method as well so will try the bag trick and see if that does anything.

Those fruit flies are dreadful!! I put vinegar, water, and a piece of fruit in the jar, then put some plastic over the top and put a hole in it. It worked like a charm.
