Hi,

Is anyone else taking a low dose of asprin this time round?

I have had 3 m/c's and have been for testing which all came back clear. The consultant wrote to me and said to keep on trying and that they would book me in for an early scan and put me on a low dose of asprin once a heartbeat has been detected.

BUT.....I have been naughty and have been taking asprin since I got my BFP this time round. When I go for my scan on 7th Sept I will have been taking 75mg of asprin for a good few weeks. I'm going to come clean and tell them then.....if all goes well and scan is ok.

Do you think what I am doing is ok?

i have been in the same situation as you hun im on a low dose of aspirin but i got told to take it as soon as i found out i was pregnant , the only thing is i have a blood clotting problem so thats why xxx

You will be fine hun, i did this and my consultant just smiled. Good luck xx

Thanks :) makes me feel better. I just thought I want to start taking it right away cause 1 pregnancy got to 5 1/2 week and one to 6 1/2 week the first was 11 weeks.

I just thought what the point until waiting till my 7 week scan to start taking it cause I might not get that far if I don't take it.

Might be a bit naughty of me but hopefully she won't mind haha.

Swanny,

I've done this as well!! I've been taking a low dose aspirin every day. There were others talking about progesterone cream as well but I wasn't sure about that one....

I've been taking a low dose aspirin since my second loss actually. So even while TTCthis one. I'm still taking one a day, 6 folic acid suppliments and a pregnacare. This is the first pregnancy I've seen a heartbeat. Might be coincidence but i'm not going to stop just in case x

I was told to start taking aspirin as soon as got a BFP so don't think they'll be bothered that you didn't wait for the scan!
Good luck!

I was on self prescribed low dose aspirin too until recently. A lot of doctors (although perhaps not your doctor) subscribe to the "won't hurt, might help" theory on it. So I figured the same. I've stopped, however. I read recently that it might cause spotting. Not the kind of spotting that harms the fetus or anything, but still, the spotting I've had has freaked me right out so for me it's not worth the stress, especially as everything is going fine right now and we have a healthy little heartbeat.

Just a tiny warning - if you do see spotting, try not to freak out. Lots of us here have had it, and gone on to see adorable little heart beats. It might just be the aspirin!

am on aspirin - had appointment in recurrent miscarriage clinic 3 days after I got BFP so they started me on it same day.

I put myself on it after having 2 MMC.

I'm still taking it as the midwife said it won't hurt, and i can stop after my scan on friday... fingers crossed everything is ok.

I am on prescribed aspirin and was told to take it from when BFP so you should be fine. Good luck
xx

Thanks everyone, I'm just continuing to take 75mg or whatever it is I've got my early scan on Tuesday so nervous.

Good Luck for Tuesday!! Let us know how you get on.

I was dithering about whether to try this or not next time I get a BFP but was worried I might get a telling off from the docs or something but looks like it should be ok after reading this. Hope all goes well at your scan :hugs:

I am on this because they suspect Isabella may have died due to clotting in the placenta so I take 75mg a day.

My consultant said even if it does no good it won't do any harm either.
