Just curious as to how many ladies out there had assisted deliveries. Did you really feel it was medically necessary for you? Did other problems arise because of the assisted delivery?

my LO was born via vacuum attempt first, followed by forceps, and I was given a 3rd degree episiotomy cut. I know it was medically necessary in my case as DD was a large baby for my petite body, and I couldn't push her out on my own, that and her heart rate was dropping during my pushing, so if intervention hadn't occurred DD might have died.

After birth, DD had many breastfeeding issues, which I later learned was because her neck was damaged during the forcep birth. She now has a muscular fibrosis we are working on correcting through physical therapy

I had a ventouse... after 3 and a half hours pushing, I begged for help because she wasn't coming, at all, then my body shut down so they didnt have a choice.
My only problem since having the assisted delivery is slight discomfort where my stitches were but thats it. I know a lot of people have it worse though <3

I had ventouse as he had the cord round his neck and I couldn't push him out, he never dropped because of it and when my waters went they had meconium in them. The only problems I had was having to wait 5 hours when fully dilated and pushing to no avail to be taken into theatre to have it done as they 'were busy', that resulted in many burst blood vessels in my face and a fat lip somehow, I'm guessing something I did with the gas and air mouthpiece the amount I was getting through! The actual procedure went well and he was out in three pulls albeit with a rather swollen head and low apgar score, he was a bit stunned to suddenly be on the outside! I had an episiotomy which was agony healing but then I cud of torn naturally and been just as bad off. To the op sorry to hear about your babies complications from yours x

with my first, after being in established labour for 30 hours i had to have a forceps delivery. my son was back to back, he got stuck and was in distress. i was told at the the time that ideally i would of been taken for a c section but the theatres were full so we had to carry on and get baby out x
