Just curious. My LO was eyeing up my pot of Saint Agur the other day and I wanted to let her try some but wasn't sure what the rules are on this? I seem to remember it being an "unsafe" food during pregnancy but nobody seems to mention it as a no-no for babies.

Listeriosis in babies is still a significant illness. I don't know exact ages but I would more than definitively avoid it until at least a year old. Honey, which causes botulism, isn't recommended until over 12 months.

Thanks, I thought as much. Does it make a difference if it is made with pasteurised cow's milk do you know? :)

To an extent, yes. However most are pasteurised in Australia yet recently a Listeria outbreak occurred in one particular brand, regardless of its pasteurisation status. You also need to be careful with regards to the mould rind. Sure, it's not a harmful mould, but in an immunocompromised individual, such as a young baby, it can cause pathology.

Thanks for that, probably safest to steer clear for now then! x
