At what age do you introduce snacks?

Lo is 8 months and learning to stand/cruise/sit down from standing. He's on 30oz formula and 3 meals. He's started waking at 3am this last week and it's so hard to resettle him, it's suddenly occurred to me he might be hungry at night again (no night feeds for last couple of months). I'll try a night feed at 3am tonight.

He is a hungry baby and must weigh about 25lbs. Do I need to think about introducing snacks during the day too. So far I haven't but he does eat everything I offer him. He starts nursery in 4 weeks and I know they offer snacks between meals so I could hold off until then and just try the night feed.
I just worry about him having too much formula and food lol.

My LO began waking early when he became mobile. I upped him from two to three meals and now give snacks if I'm having one too. I feel like all I do is stuff him full of food!!

He probably needs milk more than a snack. A snack given at, say 3pm, won't make much difference to his waking 12 hours later. But snacks are helpful to start when babies are just teetering on the edge of dropping a milk feed. My daughter dropped her 4pm ish bottle around 9-10 months and just before that, the amount she would take was decreasing, but even though she wouldn't want much, she still might want 30-60 ml. I added in a snack (yogurt, some rice cakes, or a banana) before her bottle and within a week or so, she stopped wanting the bottle all together. It didn't make any difference in whether she was waking at night, but it did bridge the gap between her milk and meals during the day.

Our LO never slept great when she was learning to crawl, sit/stand and cruise. Most nights I'd go in to settle her and she'd be standing in her cot, great time to practice apparently! She is 9 months now and I haven't started any snacks yet but she does get them in nursery and tbh I don't find her any different at night time. If anything she just eats more at nursery and drinks less, she will barely take 20oz these days :(

I know this is a complete hi jack so sorry to the op but I wanted some thoughts as you give great advice :flower:

As I mentioned above our LO barely takes 20oz our day is as follows:

7:30-8:00 3-4oz
9:00-9:30 breakfast (weetabix or porridge fingers and some sort of fruit)
11am 5 oz (nap usually follows)
12:30 dinner
3pm 5oz (nap usually follows)
5:00-5:30 tea
7pm 6oz

I thought she might have dropped a bottle by now which I am not bothered about but any advice on if I should give a snack before one of them? We are BLW so she gets what we have with exception to brekkie as I don't do porridge balls :nope:
