My daughter is trying so hard to roll over however it's at the point where her head is nearly touching her toes (backwards) because she arches her back so much when trying. It then means she screams in pain. She even does it when sitting in her bouncer. Once I put her back on her back she's happy again.

What can I do to help her? Is she actually in pain or just frustrated?

Sounds like she might just be frustrated to me. My dd was the same before she got up on her hands and knees. She screamed in frustration until she finally managed it and then she was so proud. She has never been so whiny since.

hmm it could be one or the other hun. usually they have a very distinguished pain cry. i would also suggest getting a video and even possibly putting it on here if you can so people could better judge. i know my little boy gets seriously peeved when he cant roll over xx

Most children do end up screaming / shouting in frustration when trying to roll over, however it's the arching of the back which stands out to me. Non of mine have ever arched their back when rolling, and at a younger age it's often linked to tummy discomfort. I'd probably bring it up to the health visitor and ask them for their opinion on it.
