I had no idea where I should post this, general chatter seemed appropriate. But, please, definitely move it where it belongs if I'm in the wrong spot.
A baby girl named Avery has a rare genetic disorder, Spinal Muscular Atrophy, that has given her a sentence of up to 18 months to live. It is terribly sad. Her parents are trying to raise awareness of SMA and request that it become a routine genetic test, as most people, including myself, have never heard of it.
Avery's family has decided to make every moment with Avery count, and they have compiled a bucket list. They want her to experience life to the fullest in the short amount of time she has on earth, which includes everything from blowing bubbles with her parents to getting an honorary elementary school/middle school/high school/college degree.
Right now, #1 on her list is to be on the Ellen Show so they can raise awareness of SMA and Avery's story with millions of viewers. They ask that tomorrow (May 1st) supporters email the Ellen Show with the request that Avery be invited to appear as a guest.
Avery's story moved me to tears and I can't imagine how hard this is for their family. But they really are cherishing every moment they have together!
https://averycan.blogspot.com/ That is the blog.
https://averycan.blogspot.com/2012/04/my-bucket-list.html This, specifically, is Avery's Bucket List.
https://ellen.warnerbros.com/show/respond/?PlugID=653# And this is where to go to request Avery's story be told on Ellen, if you would like to help meet one of her wishes.
