Need some advice big time!!! I'm 14 weeks pregnant now and i work in a reatil environment as a customer Assistant and my manager has been really awkward with me. I don't think it's because I told her i'm pregnant, she's just taken a dislike to me. But it just feels really personal. I haven't had a risk assessment yet with her. I've been getting cramps from standing up for 5 hours straight so I went and fetched myself a chair. I was then told off for having a chair and got told that I'm only 12 weeks pregnant I shouldn't need a chairin an unbelieveably snotty tone. (I was 12 weeks pregnant at the time.) So she told me I wasn't allowed a chair. :growlmad: I was off one day due to something pregnancy related and she then told me that she didn't believe it was pregnancy related so she put on the record that I was just ill. She's tried getting me to move televisions and she's been really trying hard to give me as many warnings as possible, pointing out little petty things that I haven't done right and lots of other things. I dread going into work now. I get really tired and fed up at work. Any advice on where I go from here? I've written it all down and i'm going to talk to personel but they are on holiday at the moment. I really need help with this. Any advice?? xx

I would suggest you get in touch with the next in line (area manager) and put in a grievance. She can't do that to you hun, that's not fair.

Let us know how you get on :hugs:

It disgusts me the way some pregnant ladies are treated by their work. It's not like you're asking for special treatment or anything. I'm sorry I don't know what to suggest but filing a complaint with your area manager or someone higher up would definitely be a good start. Hope things get sorted soon.

 Thanks for your advice :) I put in a complaint. Just waiting to hear back. You'd think that because she's a woman who's had a baby of her own that she'll understand but some people can't sympathise. She's abit nicer to me now though :happydance: Haha! Thankyou both for replying x

I would keep a diary of anything else that happens.
Hopefully that is the last of the matter but there are far too many instances where women get treated unfairly because they became pregnant. A diary would assist you in the future should you be discriminated against. Hopefully you won't need it though x

The way you are being treated is wrong and they need to sort it. Tell the person above her exactly what's been going on and that you want a risk assessment asap. If you feel that you need a chair the get one! telling you that you cant sit down when your pregnant is wrong. Personally if she carries on being like that then i would put a grievance in.

I've done what you have all advised  I have had a risk assessment now and they are being much nicer to me now. Just hope they understand about all my mood swings lol!!! I've been looking it up and the amount of women that get treated unfairly purely because they are pregnant is disgusting! I hope that i'll be able to work there abit better now :) xx
