Tonight I noticed my nipples look like they have dried skin at the tips. I'm only 14 weeks so I'm not leaking or anything, anyone else have this going on too? I'm tempted to rub some of my lotion bar that I've been buttering my stomach with to help dry skin but I hate touching my nipples right now - they're so tender!

As a mum who has breastfed 5 babies I can say that is completely normal even at this stage in your pregnancy. Generally you don't want to use creams, lotions, or soaps on your nipples/breasts-you could actually end up drying them out more. If it becomes really bothersome or you have issues with cracking you could use a lanolin or something similar sparingly. (I've used lansinoh, but some people don't care for it for various reasons) Hope this is helpful.

This is our first so I was surprised to see them getting dried already. Thank you for the helpful information, I didn't think of things making them worse! They don't really bother me other than it was shock to see so maybe I'll just leave them be and let them work themselves out unless they get worse, then look into the lanolin :)

Yeah, it's amazing how many changes your body goes through while pregnant-and how gross many of them are. LOL Best of luck to you on dealing with dry nipples and breast tenderness. I have found myself going bra-less as often as possible, so just know that you aren't alone. :)

As long as the nipple dryness is just part of the pregnancy process then I'm alright with that. Oh yes, bra comes off as soon as I'm away from people and it's just DH and I. Can't really get away with a baggy sweatshirt and no bra since my nips stick way way out. DH thinks its freaky how far out they are... how thoughtful of him to share:haha:

Boys are funny. My husband has jokingly said that instead of taking bump progression photos I should take breast progression pics. I have gone up 4 cup sizes, it is unreal. And while nips that stick out may be freaky if you plan on breastfeeding consider yourself lucky, with my first I had inverted nipples-that made for a very painful latch.

My breasts have gotten a small bit larger, but sadly not enough to buy new bras yet. I'm a small girl so any little bit makes me happy:haha: Your husbands comment cracks me up, to be truthful that thought crossed *my* mind once I saw they got a little bigger. Just to prove they were there!!

Ouch, I can only imagine how painful inverted nipples would be. Did breast feeding make them pop out so feeding #2 will be easier? I'll be thankful even though they stick out far enough DH thought I was freezing lol

Flaky nips here too! No colostrum coming out yet but I remember this stage from my first pregnancy. Very normal

That's good to hear you had it in your first pregnancy too! Makes me feel not so self conscious over it.
