I feel really really embarrassed asking this...but... do you put a vest under a baby grow? Also are baby grows for any time of day rather than putting baby in a full blown outfit? Im so confused at the moment because all the shops seem to call them different names, some call them sleep suits so im like "does that mean they are only for bed?" please dont think im stupid in asking.

I have had my son in a vest and babygrow all week(not the same one) He wore them through the day, and then at night.. Just started puting him in vests and little outfits now. You're not stupid for asking hun xx

Yes vest and babygro :) + most newborns and young babies just live in babygros. I think tiny babies sometimes look uncomfortable in jeans etc, esp. as they are asleep so much.

Hi there - it's not a silly question as all.

babygrows (or whatever we all call them) are great for newborns as they are easy to put on, and as they have feet you don't ahve to worry about silly little socks etc! I have plain ones for bedtime and more colourful ones for the daytime.

At antenatal/parentcraft last week our MW said that at this time of year Baby needs a vest, babygrow and cardigan over the top. Ideally our houses should be 18 degrees in temp as well so baby stays warm enough.

hope that helps - we haven't got long to go now :D

vest and babygrow yes! I have only just started putting Jacob in trousers and t-shirt because im bored of his babygrows (we didnt buy many small ones) they are justso easy and much more comfortable!

x

I put a vest underneith, but 99% of the time she has only wore them at night

EXcept for when she was born Grace only wears babygro's at night. I always put a vest under except in summer when it was hot I just put her blankets over her

i love babygros! babies look so comfy in them and you can get some gorgeous ones now so they look like a daytime outfit but still nice an comfortable, and i remember when i had daisy someone saying make the most of dressing them in babygros because they arent in them for long, i want to keep them babies forever!!!

take a look at the mini boden website for some lovely little rompers which can be worn in the day but to nice for bed....sorry theres another names for them ROMPERS just to confuse you even more lol

sorry just lookin at the boden website they havent got much at the mo due to their sale but normally they have lots of lovely stuff. keep an eye on the site...

I always put a vest under baby's clothes, sleepsuits, pj's etc apart from when the weather is really warm:baby:

Thanx so much ladies, i was thinking well are these underwear, just for bed, for going out in?!?!? so confused, now im all clear. Your right babies do look so much more comfy in them when they are new born rather than jeans etc, i have got him some outfits but not many. So..another question, coming home from hospital outfit, did you bring baby home in baby grow? mum n dad have bought him a lovely well i would say its a snow suit...so it would be vest, baby grow, snow suit?. Is this right?

yep thats right, vest, babygro and suit. i bought daisy home in a lovely little pink velour suit with little rabbits faces and ears on the feet, her daddy bought it for her. she only had it on for about an hour anyway what with the pukeys an stuff, ive still got it in my baby box, still got robyns comin home suit aswell although its a bit dusty now with it being 13 years old!

Yep Shampain a vest is underwear

That's what I'm planning when we take Pip outside he'll be in vest, babygro and snowsuit and probably a little hat as well if the hood on the snowsuit isn't up. If the weather's really cold would you put socks on under the babygro feet? I don't want his little tootsies getting cold!

Yeah babe....I used to put socks on underneath if it was really chilly as babies hands and feet get sooooooooooooo chilly very quickly. In fact in hospital they advised me to put socks on babies feet under babygro's coz they needed regular heelpricks as they all got jaundice and it's easier to get the blood from them if their feet are warm:cry:

I call them onesies. I use them for more than sleeping. Now, mind you in the summer or hot weather, they are great to use on baby for normal wear, very cute with socks.

Winter months you can layer them under the clothes, extra warmth...

I almost never use them for sleep wear... unless baby falls asleep while wearing them. I usually have baby gowns for the first three months for easy diaper changes.

oh i LOVE them little baby gowns!

i remember when my brother was a baby and my mum and them for him, they had a drawstring around the bottom.

i could only get 1 for daisy, i looked everywhere for them and they where so hard to find! think ill have to start looking for them now!
