Cruzs face keeps going red I keep taking him Drs and they keep giving me different creams it clears up got maybe a day or two then it's back it goes bright red like he's being burned one doctor says eczema the next says just a rash X
No idea what to do x

My LG had a similar rash frequently pre 1 years old. Is was district red patches, raised and sore looking, we discovered it was on areas of her face or neck that got regularly wet so around her mouth, creases in her neck, side of her nose.

It got worse when she was teething and drooled a lot and the only thing that really helped was keeping soft absorbent cloths to hand so I could dry her face regularly and using a nappy rash cream as a barrier on any particularly red patches.

Could it be a milk intolerance? I say this because my ds is dairy free, not due to eczema but due to severe reflux and I'm on a Facebook group and I see all kinds of allergy and intolerance skin issues. Could you get a referral to a dietician perhaps to try a different milk to see if it would clear it up or you could try going dairy free for two weeks if you're bfing to see if there's any change? Or post on the fb group "cmpa support". They might be able to give you some good help on there and shed some light on whether it looks allergy/ intolerance related or not. The other thing if the gp is unhelpful is to see your hv. She can refer you to a dietician but it takes time for the appointment to come around, it's not quick unfortunately. It wasn't in our case anyway. Or cream wise, aveeno is really good for eczema, if that's what's causing his rash. My ds has recently flared up with some since starting the soya diet which has made me question the soya now but I have found the aveeno has helped a lot. His is mild luckily though.

Thanks girls well my second son had a cows milk allergy he had reflux colic extremely miserable and mucusy poops not rash or anything
Cruz is so happy content only had this rash I've mentioned about him having the allergy they just fob me off and say they don't think t is cuz the rash is only on his face and he's fine other wise I'm forumLa feeding I would really like to try the different milk I'm taking him back X

I got fobbed off by gp telling me it wasn't a milk intolerance/allergy as he had no eczema and wasn't in any pain and was putting on weight. He was sick every day of his life and gp said he would just grow out of it. It was only the hv who said no this isn't right, he needs to see a dietician and we got on the right track eventually but it took a long time to get there. Now he's dairy/gluten free and he's only being sick once a week on average compared to several times a day. I wish someone had given us a different milk and suggested about him going dairy free instead of me struggling on and on for so long. I just wish I'd pushed more in the early days than putting up with so much sick for so long! I guess the moral of the story is don't struggle on in the hope it'll get better on its own.

Yeh was the hv who got my other son referred to the dietician wasn't untill he was 5 months old tho x

My Lo got really awful eczema on her face (she had it on other parts of her body too). It could appear as a small red patch, then start to go bumpy then crust up and ooze all in the space of a few hours.

I started trying to track the triggers that brought it back after it cleared up. For us it was heat. If LO fell asleep on Daddy (who is boiling all the time) against a warm fabric (like jumper), that side of her face where she lay and got sweaty was red and raw and developed eczema. If she got too hot in the car her face would flare up etc. etc.

Really it was only time that made the difference. We were back and forth using steroid creams on and off (the best advice we got here was to use it for three days after all visible signs had gone - this usually meant we had longer without a flare up rather than it coming back two days later) and of course emollients AT LEAST 5 times a day preferably 8 times, or as often as humanly possible. I used to do it every nappy change and bath and once she was on solids after every meal (as I had wiped her face it could get dry). Different emollients work well on different people. Some that were good on her body irritated her face; I could tell because the moment I put it on it would go red and she'd start to fuss and cry.

Aww bless I was gonna say maybe an allergy or something. I hope you can find the cause and treat it x

I took him back to the Drs he said he's fine and it's just eczema and he will grow out of it I don't no what else to do it isn't always bad but it's bad more than good.

How often do you apply the emollients?

It is really stressful as you feel like there should be something you can do but your doctor is right, it will get better with age.

Every few hours throughout the day I probably do forget sometimes I'll be more through with it
I used the aveeno last night but doesn't seem to keep his skin moist so I've switched back to the cetraben cuz he looked red again this morning x

Hey, I don't know if you've looked into this yet, but I've read that probiotics can really help baby skin problems like eczema. In fact when I was doing research into giving probiotics to my kids I found reports of parents of babies with severe eczema who used probiotics to 'cure' it from within. Maybe look into getting a probiotic supplement just for newborns/infants...it might be worth a try if topical stuff isn't working. Just start slowly to make sure baby's stomach doesn't get upset.

not sure if it will help a lot, but my son had terrible baby acne and rashes on his face at the beginning, and i tried everything. i finally got some calendula cream, and his face cleared up right away. i used california baby calendula cream, but i'm sure any good all natural calendula cream would work :)

Thanks for the advice girls were been trialed on dairy free milk for him now his face has cleared up but I think that's just down to using steroid cream at the mo X

Are all babies clothes and bedding washed in a non bio without any softeners? Plus also the top clothes of anybody that regularly holds him. My DS would get a similar weepy rash from the washing powder. The only one that he doesnt react to is standard Fairy liquid, the powder, gels and concentrate liquid would bring it up aswell. It may be something similar x

We use fairy I use the liquid capsules I wash all out clothes in the same stuff . Maybe I could try the powder see if that helps c

When did he first developed the spots Donna? My 3 week old has a really spotty face that started around 2 weeks! I think it's baby acne? Not really sure but most babies his age have clear faces :(

He also has really dry looking skin in between his eyebrows that seems to be peeling today :/

I think was around 5/6 weeks I think it is quite common for babies to get a bit of baby rash I'm sure it will clear Hun x
