I was just curious if there is anyone who could give me some advice on taking a baby aspirin once a day if they have had one or more mcs and if their doctor told them to do this, or if they are just doing it from Googling it can help? I have had 2 early mcs. One at 5 1/2 weeks and one just barely past the 6 week mark. I just started my first AF since my last mc and my doctor had recommeded us waiting 2 cycles this time around before trying again. I have Factor V Lieden which is a blood clotting disorder where my blood clots more than normal. I have the heterozygous one which means I only have a slightly higher chance of blood clots. I have never had to take anything for it and I've never had a blood clot. I'm 31 years old and my husband and I are trying for our 1st. My doctor knows I have Lieden Factor, but doesn't think I need to take anything while ttc or pregnancy. Well now that I've had 2 mcs I am wondering if taking a baby aspirin each day may benefit me? If so, I don't know when I should start taking it, etc? If anyone has any advice or personal experiences with this, please let me know. I would really appreciate it.

Hi, i cant say fully what you should do as i am not sure about your condition but i lost my baby in august and the autopsy said the placenta had partially detached and behind was blood clots. I have to have a blood test to see if i have clotting problems and if i do i was told i will need heprin shots every day throughout my whole next pregnancy. I was also told i will need to take asprin the moment i get a positive test to help the baby stick. Now im not sure like i say about you personally but i do think if your wanting to try it then wait till you get that positive test and dont start while ttc. Good luck

bundle4me thank you so much for sharing your story. I am so sorry for your loss. :hugs: I wish you the very best of luck and I really hope you get it all figured out.

I read an article about this in the daily mail .. she had had countless losses due to clotting issues so took aspirin once a day and got her baby!!
She said she just has a pack in the cupboard now 'just in case' so I don't think she got them from her doctor.
If you feel it may help it's got to be worth a try xxxx

Thank you for sharing Happy happy!! This is making me more positive about trying again. I've been so scared because I do not want to go through this a 3rd time. It has been mentally, emotionally and physically incredibly hard on me. I've wanted to be a mom forever and I'm terrified I won't get that opprotunity. :nope:

So sorry for your losses :hugs:
I have just gone through my 2nd loss in a row...first one was a chemical so im hoping this loss was just bad luck!
I too am taking the baby asprin once I get a bfp!
I spoke to the hospital about it as iv read so much on it!
they just said because theres no harm in trying it but at the same time could help you they advise its a persnonal choice. So iv chose to try it. Along with keep taking my daily folic acid still.

hope we get our sticky beans very soon xx

I have a Protein C deficiency (found out after my 2nd loss) so I have to take aspirin when I'm pregnant otherwise my blood gets too sticky and puts me a higher risk for blood clots. Since you have Factor V Leiden you REALLY should take it, even if you are heterozygous!! Some ladies on the recurrent miscarriage thread and PARL thread are even on blood thinners for this. I would take it after ovulation though, to make sure it doesn't interfere.

I have had two miscarriages. With my third pregnancy, I self medicated with aspirin (75mg) and it was ectopic, so can't comment of how effective aspirin was for me. I was tested for factor v and a few other clotting disorders, all of which came back negative.
At the recurrent miscarriage clinic (after my ectopic, which was after two miscarriages) they told me that if I tested positive for any clotting disorder I would be on blood thinning medication from bfp until agreed.
This was all without an official medical diagnosis which requires 2 positive tests 12 weeks apart, so I am pretty sure you should be on something! Who diagnosed you with factor v - have you spoke to a miscarriage specialist? As the situation for pregnancy is different than when not pregnant, especially with a known clotting disorder and recurrent miscarriages!

Although my clotting factors tests returned negative, I am continuing taking 75mg of aspirin every day. I spoke to the recurrent midwife nurse who advised that there is no harm, but also likely to be no benefit, but again I was negative for clotting issues so I would definitely seek a second opinion!
