So yeah...what the title says...I'm starting to kind of worry. He seems to vocalize more when hes alone playing than if I'm trying to have a "conversation" with him. He will babble back and forth w/ people a little but not nearly as much as he does while playing with toys! My OH says not to worry but it is starting to bother me a little...is this a sign of something wrong?? Or is it perfectly normal? He also doesn't roll over regularly yet only from side to side...can't sit unassisted..doesn't laugh very often..doesn't show signs of crawling soon..I'm so worried hes developmentally delayed or something mentally is wrong. :( Any insight would be greatly appreciated.

My LO babbles more at his toys and books than people and so far he doesn't have any delays. He was sitting and starting to crawl at 5 months, but I think he was early. A lot of kids don't crawl anywhere near then. I wouldn't worry right now.

Thats reassuring to know hes not the only one...its like he prefers to watch me talk and then goes and practices by himself. Lol. Its just hard not to worry sometimes.. was on facebook and saw someone I know posting a video of her 8.5 month old walking already :/ Made me feel a bit discouarged about my LO like I was doing something wrong to delay him...

You are not doing anything wrong. 8.5 months is really early to walk. Some kids just do things earlier than others. Also he is a boy and they learn to talk much slower than girls. Maybe this is why he doesn't really "talk" with adults yet. If your really concerned, talk to his Dr about it. That way you can be reassured or you can find our if there is any reason to be worried. It is exciting when your lo starts to do something early but you shouldn't expect it or feel bad when they don't. The fact that you are concerned shows that you are a good mamma and just want the best for your baby boy.

Lol my LO babbles more at the ceiling then she does to me.i think its what you said, shes to fascinated to interupt.she also babbles frequently at the dog.lol i think as long as shes doing it its not a sign of anything being wrong.

Hey thanks to both :) I always feel more reassured when I ask on here. I guess it just makes me feel bad when moms on facebook are bragging about what their babies are doing so early..:haha: I know I shouldnt though and babies do everything at their own pace...I'm such a worrier though.

My LO has full on conversations and giggling fits with a photo frame!!! So yeah, dont worry

Haha great to know you guys!! :) I was really starting to think it was odd that he'd "talk to himself" but turns out its perfectly normal. Lol.

If it's any consolation my 2 year old now only says hello to cardboard cut outs when we are out  ignorance I tell ya

If it helps any I was worried because mine won't seem to interact with his toys, he looks at them like they're alien objects, finds me in the room with his eyes and starts to babble to me instead. And I was worried there was something wrong with him haha I think as mums we worry if they do, worry if they don't, worry worry worry :flower:

He sounds fine to me. Thomas rolled at 3 months, Sophie at 9 months. But she walked earlier than him. She took her first steps at 11 months and 6 days. Just over a month later and she's practically running! She was soo much slower than Thomas was, I worried so much. She's a smart little cookie now though and her physicals skills are great.

As for the making conversation/babbling, that sounds good too. At least he's babbling, Sophie didn't at that age.
