One of the very few things we haven't gotten for LO at this point is a bathtub...and I am seriously debating whether it is needed. If we do purchase one, we want to go with the Blooming Bath (No hard parts, as DH is rather accident prone). What are your opinions on how needed this item is?

I have a baby bath tub, it was given to me as a gift. I wouldn't have purchased one on my own, to me it does not seem like something that would be necessary to have. I hate clutter, and I hate having stuff around the house that isn't useful, so I am going to keep the tub for the first little while to see if I use it much, but then I imagine I will get rid of it.

It will probably save money tbh, instead of filling a whole big bath tub. We need one as we only have q shower right now, dreading her outgrowing her baby bath!

We have a baby bath we used with our first and it was a god send. Specially I. The first few weeks when I relied more on DH it meant that he could move the bath round to where it was easy for me to help out, if we hadn't had one it would have meant he would have to bath baby on his own. With a baby bath we could bath LO in the warmest rooms when it was chilly weather. Babies are very slippery and very squirmy in the beginning days so a sturdy baby bath where they can't slip is very helpful.

I used one with the first 2 kids, but I actually found it to be a pain in the butt and it was always in the way. So I got rid of it and I'm just bathing the baby in the sink this time.

The baby won't use much water in the beginning so a small tub is nice. I got the plastic one that fits in the sink and has a removable mesh sling. When they're real small the sit above the water and you give them a light sponge bath. As they get older/bigger you can fill it more to give them a good washing. It has two sides, one on an angle for when they're small and more of a seat for when they can sit up on their own. When my DD got bigger I would set it in the bathtub and wash her and then when I felt she was safe to go in the tub I stopped using it. I do think it something good to have and it's less than $20 in most stores.

My mom brought me a baby bath from IKEA for only £6 it was a bargain in my opinion and its nice and big so will last him a good while :)

I used mine for the first year of DS life. Loved it. You can fill it quick and dispose quick.
I'm going to use it again on my DD because she'll just be in plain water for a few weeks. When she can sit unaided il put her in the bath with DS. But until then separate baths. DS loves his bath toys and bubbles!!!

Edit:

I would of loved the blooming bath and as ftm to my son I would of loving one as the first few things I can remember about bathing DS is that it took 2 of us to bathe him we were terrified.
Anyone I know who had one LOVED THEM!!!!!
So I'm jealous in advance if you get one!!! First bath pics in the bloom eeeeeekkkkkkkkk!!

I loved mine as I was always afraid of baby falling when wet and soapy and a cold sink to the bum isn't always nice ;)

For me it is an essential as I have a bad back and will need to bath baby on a higher surface until it can sit up properly as I physically cannot bend that low into the bath. As earlier mentioned it will take more water to wash in the bath than in a baby tub, and really you don't need all these expensive fancy ones and you can pick up a normal baby bath dirt cheap. Ours cost £6.

I just bought a large washing up basin (cheapskate :p ) to use for the first few weeks then we will transfer to the big bath using the angelcare bath support. Wasn't keen on the bulk of a baby bath for the sake of a few weeks use

This is my 3rd and while I won't say they're an absolute need, I will say they are very nice to have...I would get one if it won't hurt you financially.

If I suck it up and order one (and it MUST be the hot pink one!), I will be so excited for bathtime pics! :happydance:

It's not a financial problem, at all, though the Blooming Bath isn't on the cheap side..ugh. :dohh: I've heard from so many people that it's unnecessary, and quite frankly...it was one of my few "must haves". We got very spoiled at the baby shower and got pretty much everything else, so this is one of the few things I get to pick for her. I just didn't want to splurge if ALL I was hearing was "waste of money". Thank you so much, ladies! I think I will be ordering it this week.

My sil gave me theirs but otherwise i wouldnt have one. They used it for three weeks and found it super annoying. A sink can serve the same purpose!

I wasn't a huge fan of the baby bath either. I only used mine a few times before I got rid of it! I just ended filling about and inch in the bottom of my tub and bathing him that way. Much easier in my opinion!

We also got the blooming bath for the early months and will switch to a baby tub for when she's older. Personally I don't think they're a waste at all. How else would you plan on tubby time when you need to hold them up?

I got one on a stand for DS3 and it was so awesome. It is one that has a change table as a lid. Made my life so much easier as we have a very deep bath and i cant lean into it holding a newborn.

I got one for only $15 (AUD) , not sure if we'll use it though, but thought I'd get one just in case

I never bought one. I washed ds in the kitchen sink until he was big enough to go in the bath with a support. I got that second hand for £1. You definitely don't need one but if you want one there is no harm in getting one.

We have one as we bought absolutely everything first time round. There was so much stuff we didn't end up using. The bath was good but any small tub or even the normal bath would have been fine. I think it's expensive for what it is and if we didn't already have one then I wouldn't be buying one this time around :)
