Im setting up for disaster arent i
Any tips for having this combination?

Oooh my.. I didn't think of this!!

I guess I'm going to have to make sure everything on the bottom of the tree is plastic/"safe ornaments".. we have a fake tree also

Something like this, but around the tree is what we are going to be doing.

Oh GOOD idea!! I can just see it now, the tree hauled down on top of both Renah and the cat.

Last xmas we had an 8 month old baby with our 2 cats and it wasnt a problem. I think Hannah was still young enough not to bother about the tree and the cats never have in all the time we've had them. Hopefully it'll be the same for you this year but next year .......! :)

Our cat is a devil for being tempted by a shiny bauble or something dangly, lol. I tried hanging things out of her reach but she then climbs up on things like the couch to reach them. She's not brought the tree down yet though, just idly bats at things.

 I just read the title without looking to see what section the thread was in and had all sorts of images in my head of you out in the garden with Alex and a cat... was wondering what you had planned

We used our playpen to fence off the tree last year x

ive nowhere to put a tree in this poxy house

We didn't put the tree up last year, as our (4) cats were a nightmare with it the year before.

Still not sure about this year. LO will be too small to pay any attention to it, and tbh it's a lot of hassle... I'm thinking my tree is too big anyway, now that we've got a different suite. Might just get one of those "slimline" ones that comes already decorated

the above IS a great idea and I just happen to have one of them in our garage - score!

We have an artificial white tree so my cat has never been bothered with it, but the real one we had when growing up ?? oh how our cat loved to climb it & knock it over!

my cats never really bothered much with the tree in the past and Hannah wasn't moving last year at Christmas. I'm hoping she'll just leave it alone  We do have some things (picture frames and a drawer) that are completely off limits to her and though she's tested me a few times she generally leaves them alone

artificial or not, if youve met my cat (like eala has) you'll understand my worries

we might do a real tree this year since it looks like we're staying here for Christmas--if that's the case my cats may be more interested in it

I feel your pain... The only thing I do is let her have a bauble on the floor, she only attacks the tree when she's lost her bauble under the sofa... No idea how I'm going to cope with a baby as well!

You can see what mischief I got!!

my cat has never bothered with the tree even when we have baubles etc dangling low down.

but we have got a 4ft fibre optic for this year which means it can stand on the speaker behind the tv out of reach of kids and cat!
