Ok need some good advice please
My dd is 5 weeks old and since about 2 weeks she's had gagging incidents either when feeding and the milk going down to quick and gagging on sick.
Well last night she started gagging which woke her up and it took her a long time to start breathing again, I was very worried, seconds away from calling a ambulance but then she was fine.
She seems very Stuffy nosed on a night so I'm wondering if it was the reason she was gagging.
I just dont know I'm so scared and have a doctor calling me in an hour but wondered if anyone else had experienced this. She also gets a lot of bubbly saliva that seems quite thick.
Thank you for reading x

That is very scary! It sounds like your little one may have reflux, which is causing her milk to come back up during and after feedings. My DS is 11 weeks and has had this happen several times. It is terrifying! His doctor recommended that we burp him during feedings after every 2oz or 5 mins of nursing and then hold him upright for 20-30 mins after his feedings are complete. This has helped a lot and has helped him not to choke as often. We also use a cold mist humidifier by his bed at night which has helped him not to be as stuffy and congested when he sleeps.

Most babies grow out of this stage after the first few months, but if you're really concerned and the burping techniques don't work, you can always ask the dr to put your baby on medication to help her reflux. Best of luck to you Hun! I hope your LO gets some relief soon!

it could be reflux causing the sick but also id get the gp to check chest incase its a lower tract airway infection xx

We had to deal with a reflux baby, but also issues with choking. It really helped to feed LO on her side, facing away from us.

Okay so I think her mucus is in her throat rather than nose as wgeb giving her colic relief she sounded like she couldn't swallow it cos of her throat being clogged up

I'd just take her to the doctor Hun or to the hospital xx

Breastfeeding in an upright position helped with my sons reflux. Google koala position I wedged a pillow under him when he was small and reclined a bit. Also sleeping upright helped. We used a fully reclined swing.
