Hi Ladies

Im a bit conerned. My daughter (10wks) will drink her milk fine... and then about an hour later she does this massive cough/sneeze, gets all red in the face, starts choking, and all puke is coming out of her nose.

Its really frightening. Has anyone experienced this and know what it is/what is causing it? Should i go to the GP?

Im going to baby clinic tomorrow for her jabs so i will mention it to the health visitor.

Its happened about 3 times now.

Poor baby girl. x x x

sounds like she might have reflux. I'd ask your doctor about that but that has happened to my son a few times and he has reflux.

I am interested in this too as my older twin does that quite often. The community nurse and the health visitor both said it is just mucus and that he just needs more winding but I am not convinced cause as with yours it happens so much later after he has eaten. But then again he is thriving and otherwise happy and healthy so I don't know

Ah right. Yeah i would say i definately burp her enough... And its not after every feed, in fact im sure its been after her 4pm feed every time (will have to see if it happens again at same time tomorrow)

Ps, what is reflex? And what happens if your baby has it?

Aw, yeah, my LO does this too, but only when on her back. I make sure she's upright for 40min. after she feeds but it doesn't seem to help. I definitely suspect it's due to reflux.

Reflux is too much tummy acid, basically heart burn. But I don't think mine has this cause he is not crying while feeding and he does not projectile vomit and mostly only cries when he has colic or is trying "to go to the loo" :haha:

If its not often I doubt it is reflux. Reflux happens normally after every feed. It's more like just mucus coming up and causing her to cough which often makes babies projectile vomit which is why it's coming out of her nose x

My LO would vomit out of his nose all the time. He had reflux and was taking meds. However, my pediatrician said that because babies nose/mouth area is so small, it isn't unusual for spit up to come out of the nasal passages. First time it happened I was so scared. It is disturbing to watch!!

Alexs reflux can happen anytime, and can still come out the nose :/

My gp said it was silent reflux...after the 3rd time I got so paranoid. We keep her upright for about a half hour after feeding and she sleeps on an incline. Hasn't happened since we started this routine about 2 months ago.
