Why is this happening? Suddenly my supply seems to have gone into overdrive and for the last few days little Halle is choking on the boob, and when she pulls away the milk is literally shooting out of the boob at pressure.

I feel so bad for doing it and i just can't control it. Tried expressing some out but i can't produce anything- till she latches on then it'll literally explode out! :dohh:

Any ideas? xxx

My foremilk is the same. I latch sam on and wait till i feel my letdown start, unlatch him and press a breast pad to my boob until the spirt calms down. He only chokes very occasionally now instead of everytime. x

Mines the same. He coughs at practically every feed. As Mrs_Nesbitt says, I have a muslin to hand to mop up any spillages! It has got better over time though.

Mine rarely does this anymore, so either it's that he's use to it, or it's because he's older my milk has stabilised, because my breasts barely leak anymore, and i know and still have enough, because he's very satisfied.

just out of interest, what does that let down feels like, ive never noticed a difference when im feeding

I have a fast let down as well. It is especially embarrassing when I am feeding in public and Tristan pulls off and my milk sprays everywhere. I am struggling with holding Tristan whilst trying to cover up the spraying nipple and mopping the milk off his face!!!

I find that if you let the baby come off the nipple for a few seconds and hold the cloth to the nipple and then reintroduce the baby to the nipple it helps the spraying milk/choking baby effect.

Good luck!

I find it is like a tightening effect around your nipples. I get this within a couple of seconds of Tristan latching on. I even get it at times when Tristan is crying and it is nearing feed time. My boobs also instantly feel fuller around the nipple as well. It is a strange sensation!

It's like an aching, almost bruised type feeling followed by "ahhhhhhhhhhhhh" relief:happydance:. You may also feel it if baby is crying or you think about her. I always get it in the bath and end up with a "Cleopatra bath":rofl::rofl::rofl::rofl::rofl::rofl::rofl::rofl::rofl::rofl:

I too have "fast flow teats"...babies usually adjust after a few weeks or so....for now you just have to take baby off the breast and pat their back when they choke on the milk:dohh:

I have always suffered from this. It's called over-active letdown. We have always struggled because of this. She gets very cross and coughs and splutters and gets full of wind. It has got beter over time though. She now gets frustrated when it doesn't come out quick enough!

Here's a link for you to find out more:

Fast letdown.

Hope it gets better for you soon.

Thanks ladies, I have been pulling away when I feel the let down go into overdrive, but then I worry I don't have enough milk for the rest of the feed! :dohh:

Halle suffers majorly from wind too (I never knew a baby could fart so loud and so often!!!) , and i assume it's from all that gulping of the white stuff

They get wind from crying and swallowing air when they feed and breathe at the same time etc not just from air bubbles from bottles like people used to think.

Erin gets bad wind too but as soon as she's sat upright and given a bit of a pat on the back luckily she does a huge burp:blush:

this happens to me too. It's horrid when she pulls away coughing and milk sprays all over her face and hair :( and she's dead windy too. I can't wait to feed her in the morning as my boobs feel like watermelons >.>

:rofl::rofl: sat here laughing.
I have the same problem, i can feel the let down (like pins and needles above my nipple) she latches on and off on the one side and it tends to spray everywhere.. got her in the eye this am:rofl:

But she got her own back later when i was changing her nappy on my lap, she wee'd and farted at the same time so i got sprayed!!!!:rofl::rofl::rofl::rofl:
Luckily managed to quickly cover her up with the clean nappy i;d just put on!
