Baby engaged at 32 weeks...

Hey girls,

So the midwife just told me (and i already suspected due to pelvis pain and trouble peeing) that baby is already most of the way engaged in the pelvis. She said it's quite early at 32 weeks but, as this is my first baby, I'm assuming anything could happen really.

Does anyone else have experience of being engaged so early? If so, did you deliver early? It would be a dream to go just a little early and not have to go overdue!

Thats excellent news I know head can engage a few weeks prior to labor. With me though they didn't engage until I was in labor.

LO has been engaged since 31 weeks, I'm still here at 38 weeks desperate for something to happen!! My last MW appointment (36 weeks) she told me to finish work that week, that I may go early, but apart from having BH's and what feels like erratic painful contractions since last Wednesday, nothing else has happened! So my advice is, be prepared but don't get your hopes up (like I did) xx

I think i am the same Jill. At 26 & 28 weeks they told me she was in the normal fetal position but not engaged. However last week at my 31 week GP app she said she suspects she is now engaged (although im sure not fully engaged) I have a scan on Monday so i guess we'll see then. My GP said it doesnt necessarily mean that she will come early but to be prepared just incase!!! xx

Im the same.. been engaged since 32 weeks, 3/5. I had my 38 week appointment today and baby is on the brim, positive news as she said cos baby is so far on her way she will do a sweep at 39 weeks if I havent gone by then. I had my hopes up too but she feels sorry for me cos shes been so low for so long that she will do a sweep next week (they dont do them here til 41 weeks. Could be good news too for you x

Its very common for first time babies to be engaged from 30 weeks onwards, with any children afterwards the baby is more likely to not engage until labour. Its not an indication of when labour will be really x
