My lo is nearly 7 weeks and ebf but at the end of most feeds he gets quite agitated waving his arms and legs about and bobbing off and on my nipple. Ive tried winding him and that doesnt help he just gets more cross when I take him away from the boob. Its always towards the end of a feed and happens most times and he is normally happy enough afterwards. Any ideas ladies??

I had this issue with LO and it was wind. I couldn't get any burps from her and so I didn't think it was. But I was advised to try Infacol and as soon as I'd used that for a few feeds lo and behold, big burps and a happier baby.

It's always worth a try!

My son does the same and its wind too. Its so hard to make him burp sometimes. Never heard of Infacol

I have this problem too but my daughter sometimes does it through the entire feed. I read a lot about it and it could be any number of things. Does your son have reflux? Is it usually when he's sleepy? He could be too tired but still hungry. Is he distracted when he bobs off does he stare off? It also could be a colicky phase some babies go through during this age. Ive got my daughter to stop freaking out if I rock her while I nurse but if she's distracted I take her into a quite dark room and that helps some. Also make sure to burp him every so often if he's got reflux he'll need burp more often. There's other reasons like food allergy or nipple preference (if you've given a bottle) etc. Still not 100% sure what's causing it with my daughter but like I said rocking her has helped and dark quiet rooms.

My baby does this too, I thought she was getting annoyed because the milk ran out on that side or something so I switch her to the other side and she seems ok. Hmm not sure now.

Might not be the same for you & your LO, but my baby was doing the same at around the same age. Feeding fine until the end, then fighting & getting cross and bobbing on & off. Would be fine when I switch sides, then start again with the fussing after a while. If I took her away she'd still be rooting & aeem upset so I assumed she was still hungry & assumed I either wasn't making enough milk so she was getting cross when it ran out or that she was lazy and wouldn't keep suckig to get the next let down.

Anyway I was wrong & it turned out I had over supply & fast flow so in actual fact she was finished but getting annoyed because whenever she sucked milk came out yet she just wanted comfort. Hence bobbing on & off. She was getting cross because I thought she hadn't had enough so kept trying to make her latch on. Ooops! Anyway because various BF problems present the same or similar symptoms it's trial and error ruling things out over time. I had to see a breastfeeding support worker who watched a feed & explained it to me. I'd recommend seeing someone or giving one of the helplines a call. good luck x

this happens with me sometimes! My aunt who was a champion bfer suggested this could be the issue as well. Now I usually offer the other side and if it keeps up I stick a dummy in her mouth for a few mins. Also I think that my flow is so fast at the beginning that she gets annoyed when it slows.

My LO does this too, I always give a binkey and he chills out. I didn't know why he does it. I just tried bink and it worked.

My son was the same as this I ended up giving him a dummy (I hate dummies) and he's been fine since

I was giving her a dummy too & she'd be fine, but unfortunately at that time I'd gotten myself so neurotic about it that I was absolutely convinced she was still hungry because the feed hadn't lasted long enough, so therefore I assumed I had low supply or she wouldn't suck once let down finished. I kept thinking I would miss hunger signs with the dummy, even though everyone kept telling me that if she hadn't finished her feed & was still hungry then she'd let me know & wouldn't settle with the dummy like she was :dohh:

Hindsight is a wonderful thing. I wish I'd just relaxed & accepted she'd finished her feed lol

I always made sure that i only gave him the dummy when I was certain he had finished his feed! He was only 4 weeks so didn't want to mess up my supply! I alway took the dummy out once he'd been asleep for a whil was well x

so I went to the breastfeeding clinic to get my lo weighed yesterday. I asked about the fussing at the end of the feed and the nurse said it could be she's full or maybe annoyed with the slow flow.
I fed her there and she fussed but I kept her going. I was curious how much she ate so I weighed her right after and she gained 7.5 Oz!! I think in my case at least it's that I have too much milk. she also was spiting up after
