Baby finally sleeping through...blocked ducts. :(

My daughter suddenly went from waking and feeding every 2-3 hours to sleeping 7-7...this is the 3rd night and I just woke up at 3am with a painful lump in my breast. What can I do to treat and prevent this? I've had mastitis before and I hope I can dodge it this time somehow.

I appreciate any help!

You could express just enough to get the lump down. Maybe just hand express or a manual pump for a little bit.

Thanks! Turned out to be not as easy as that, I've been admitted to hospital with mastitis and a pretty high temperature. Still waiting for some tests now. Thanks for you answer though, appreciate it.

Being sent home soon. Make sure you stop gradually, and if your baby all of a sudden starts sleeping through, think about expressing a little bit every night just to reduce milk more gradually. Learned that the hard way. Thanks again!
