Well why I have a few minutes I figured I would write my full birth story out.

I had a scheduled c-section for Wednesday August 29th at 10:30 a.m. I was told to be to the hospital by 8:30 that morning. We live about 2 hours away from the hospital. There are closer hospitals but due to my high risk status I see a specialist doctor. Anyways the drive was ok until we were less than 30 mins from the hospital then there was a bunch of construction. We ended up being 10 mins late and that wasn't what I had wanted to happen. Anyways, I got checked into the hospital and into my gown and put on the monitor. Baby looked really good. I then was told that my c-section had gotten bumped due to an emergency that had come up. it would between 1 1/2 to 2 hours later than originally thought.

The waiting is the worst. Finally by 11:30 I started having all the different doctors come in and talk to me. So I knew they would be taking me back. 12:00 hit and they took me back to the OR. They gave me the spinal....which hurt really bad before the numbed my skin. They were pressing on my hip bones so freaking hard! But they numbed it and finally got the spinal inserted. They got me to lay down on the operating table. It was a really weird feeling with the numbness. Finally they started the procedure and brought DH into me. I was so glad to see him there.

Haylie was born at 12:39 weighing 6lbs 4oz and was 19.5 inches long. I heard her cry a couple of times but I unfortunately didn't get to see her right away. She had a bowel movement in utero and breathed some of it in. It's strange that she had done that since I was only 37 weeks plus 5 days. She wasn't taking in deep breaths like she should :( So they took her to the NICU and then decided she didn't need to be there but needed to be in the nursery to be looked after. At this point I started crying. DH was torn on who to go with. I asked him to stay with me. I knew Haylie was in good hands over in the nursery. I needed him. The doctors were telling us that this is something very common and she was going to be fine. Still when you just have a baby your emotions are all kinds of crazy.

They finally got my tubal done and me all stitched up and back into my recovery room. DH took off to the nursery to see how Haylie was doing. He came back and forth a few times to give updates and show me pictures. She did well but was on oxygen for quite a while. He somehow got a nurse to sneak her over to me for just a minute. I got to hold her for the first time and see who had been kicking me for the past little while. I fell in love at first sight.

It took most of the evening and night for the spinal to wear off completely. I was feeling quite sick as I hadn't eaten anything and was on a bunch of pain medication. Around 11 that night I went into see her in the nursery. I didn't stay long cause I was really feeling sick. Finally at 2:30 in the morning they said she was good to come into my room. :) I was so excited and held her for quite a while.

We are hoping to go home tomorrow. She's perfect. I do think she's getting a bit of jaundice but we know how to handle that as my first DD had it quite bad. I'm grateful that she is doinig so well now and that I had her when I did. It could've cause problems if I had had her in me longer.
