im gonna start buying some baby milk in for my LO but i havent a clue where to start or what milk to get, anyone help me? thanks

Hiya hun...it all depends on your own personal prefrence. I started with Cow and Gate only because i had mainly seen that brand advertised...my baby was quiet sicky on it...i didnt think much of it as he had reflux anyway...however i now use Hipp Organic formula...i didnt know anything about it until wobbles mentioned it as it isnt as frothy as cow and gate and is known to be easier to digest, i changed my bubs onto that and it has done wonders for him...he is no longer as sicky:)...alot of mums go for Aptimal as it said to be the closest to breast milk...its really up to you hun...whatever is best for you and baby:) On the box they always have clear instructions how how to make them up...its always one scoop of formula to 1oz of water...

Goodluck hun xxx

i started on aptimal after i found it too hard to bf i havent had any problems with it but its trial and error all babies are different

i'd ask your midwife or doc. Or wait until baby is her as he/she might not like one. Or even better - breast feed? So much easier and less effort involved :happydance:

i think theres so much more effort involved in bf i found it so hard just cuz zane wasnt getting enuf

i have got cow and gate stage one, Jack had the same and he was fine on it x

there is at first. once you get the hang it's a lot easier. I remember someone saying this to me in the early weeks and I thought they were talking out of their bum. Apparently not. I've since appreciated the no steralizing, no preparing bottles, no warming milk, no buying milk. And LO can feed quicker. I'm happy to be a lazy mummy:rofl:

Sorry - I know this isnt what this post is about. Good luck working it out.

I did think about breast feeding but i really dont wanna have to express into anything thats whats putting me off & me & oh will be taking shares in waking up during the night ect so how else could i do that. He wants me to breastfeed & the only reason why is because he thinks he wont have to do any night feeds but he has no chance. x

u dont have to express n breast pumps actually dont feel bad to use.

if u wana bf but want oh to help then why not ask him to get up at night wen u feed to give u support n keep u awake! wen bf at the start zane was on it seemed every 10-30 mins n i kept fallin asleep lol

You could do a combination...you could BF and if you dont want to or cant express, you could give a formula feed at night that OH can do while you rest and brew up some more boobie juice!!??? It's great that you have an OH who wants to be involved AND is supportive of you BFing too. x

Do whatever's best for you. I use Aptamil and it's been great. xxx

We started on Sma Gold, but found this really hard on Josh's belly, and also seemed to make him cinstipated. Spok to hv andshe sugested changing milk. So now were on Aptamil and it's great. Seems to be a lot better for Josh. Aptamil does seem to be a bitmore pricey than the others though.

Suppose it's just trial and errorand whatever works best for your little girl.

Good luck

Yep its fine, i did this and my midwife was the one who suggested it because i was strugglin with my little boy and PAige always being on me, this way i could give her a formula feed put her down and spend some time with kieran x

Ill mention this to my midwife in 2 weeks when i go & see what she says.
Id rather do that bit of both, no my oh has no excuses lol x

You can definately combine! The MW may try to steer you to BF only, which is just her job but you can do what you like! If she does there are lots of girls on here who can advise you on combination feeding. If you and OH like the idea of BFing then I think you should go for it and know that you have the flexibility of the formula as and when you want. Some babies have a tough time changing between the two and others are just fine! I combined with Hebe for the first week and she did fine!

x

I combined too when I had mastitus for a week and it was fine - I just gave the formula feed in the evening when your milk is lower anyway and seems to settle them v well! Just watch the supply and demand of your own milk it is hard to go back to full time b.feeding but worth it! (lots of fluids and brewers' yeast tablets!)
