Hello,

Just a short rant!! Had my little girl's name picked out from week 13!! Now my cousin has just had a baby and called it the same name!! Even though she knew what mine was and had called her baby a completely different name from day 1!!!

Annoyed isn't the word, 7 weeks to pick a new one!!

:growlmad:

Oh my goodness! I'd be devastated. Did you have any others on your shortlist? xx

I'm sorry. I would be furious if I was in your position. I just don't see or understand why people do this. It's completely disrespectful and rude in my opinion. I hope you can think of a name that you like just as much as your original choice.

Not really, Me and the OH both work as teachers so it was hard enough to think of a name in the first place. My OH is adamant that we should just keep it but to me I can't now! I don't get on with the cousin really and I think it was my mum that told her what mine was so annoyed at her too!!!!

hmmmm..... I wanted the the pregnancy to hurry up, now I want it to slow down!!

What was the name? xx

It was Maisie :( Was just about to buy the Wall Art to finish her Nursery too!

why don't you look for similar names like daisy gracie Kacie, Lacie, Marcie, Marie, Maxie and Tacie.

or you could spell it different x

I can understand a relative/friend doing this by accident but can't believe she did it knowing you had picked it out!! I would be so upset if that happened to us having picked our name at 16 weeks, you feel like you know your child as the name, I don't think I would be able to change it.
Do you see a lot of this cousin? If not then I would still use it.

I understand where you are coming from.... it's weird thinking of other names for her :( but i'm not settled with having two of the same names in the family - she decided on this new name 5 days ago but wouldn't say which angers me even more!!

I think that my baby deserves a name that no-one I know closely has - There were plenty of other names I had to rule out due to family and my sister had a 6 week old she would have loved to have called the same name as I wanted but she respected my wishes!

I'm sure me and the OH will find a perfect name for our first little bundle of joy :)

I've had mine picked out since pretty much day one too... in fact, its a name I've loved for years!! But who knows, maybe he will get here and I'll see him and be like wow, he just doesn't look like an Aidan!! Maybe when you deliver, you'll see her and be like her name is _______. Best of luck!!

WOW! To top it off that's not even a common name. I have no clue what I would do in that situation. I had a similar one though. I have wanted to name my son using my dad's middle name since I can remember..like 19/20 years old...My cousin adopted a little boy and used the name (he was born this weekend-but I have known for several months) that I know she heard me say many times. We are still using it as a middle name though. My husband thankfully didn't want it as the first name anyway which made the issue easier to deal with. Its hard to imagine if I would have still used the name after that like your husband wants you to do. I don't think I would. You will come up with something that you like even more. Good Luck. :hugs:

Why not just use the same name? They'll be second cousins so not that close really, and if people knew it was your name first it shouldn't be a problem.
