Leo hasn't taken to solids quite like my first did and it left me wondering about iron since my previous reading indicated that there really isn't iron in breast milk and babies have iron stores that provide for them for about 6 months. I just read the article below and it was very helpful. Basically if a baby is full term, healthy, and breast fed without iron supplements, there's no need to worry about iron until a year or even later. Hopefully I can still stop pumping at 18 or so months because pumping is a pain.

I'd like to add to this that delayed cord clamping can increase the iron stores your baby has (and it makes sense - the blood in the cord is their blood!). I didn't know about it but if I had another LO I'd definitely request delayed clamping.

Yes, that's important too! My babies' cords were cut after they stopped pulsing.
