(I just posted this in Baby Club but someone suggested posting it in here too)

My little girl has to have physio on her neck. She currently can only hold her head on one side and doesn't turn or lift her head ... I'm not exactly sure what is gonna happen when she has physio?? No one is 100% sure yet but they think she might just have short tendons in one side of her neck. I'm scared that the physio will hurt her????? I mean, obviously the peadiactric physio is trained in babies but even so ...?? Maybe mommy will cry more than her ... It's not for another week though (31st March) but am soooo scared for her ...

hiya Ellie has the exact same problem as your little cutie, they just tell us to do certain excercises on her neck to get it stronger although now her neck problem is actually due to having a hip problem

hope she done ok with her physio xx

it actually wasn't that bad!! The pyhsio lady didn't do any excersises with her. She just said to make sure that we do everything on the opposite and get her to change which side her head is facing when she's sleeping ...

Its more about positioning and play with a purpose than actual exercises. My dd been attending physio for over a year for other reasons but when she was just out of NCIU she would only lie one way but we were advised to place a rolled up towel in her basket so she couldnt roll her preferred way and we kept persisting in turning her head when she was asleep the other way it was fine, she has no probs now with this! Be persistent, it really works. best of luck.

My son had this same problem. Our ped. gave us certain stretches to do, and within a months time it was much better! His head was even mishapen from it. I just made sure to do his stretches 3-4 times per day, and hold him in different positions. He is nearly 3 and you would never know it.

Here in Quebec physio is automatically given for preemies 29 weeks and under. This is because they`ve been laying still for sooo long (instead of being curled up in mom`s tummy) their muscles develop differently. It`s really helped my little guy along; he`s 8 months corrected now and we still go every two weeks. We have daily exercises to do and I feel they`ve made a difference in his development.

Hi, my son had a very stiff neck (torticolisis) and I had to call a physio specialised in babies. I found a practice called Baby Physio. James came to my house so I didn't need to go outside in the cold with my baby (Max).
He was very gentle with Max and what he did was really effective. I was a bit scared at the begining that it will hurt Max but the session went very smoothly.
