Just interested in what routines people have for their babies 6 months old and over and what activities they do during the day?

Since weaning we've managed to get food and nap routines into place which we never had before (breakfast 7.30 nap 8.30, lunch at 12, nap at 1, nap at 4, dinner at 5 and then bed at 6) but i am struggling to fill the days when we're not out and about. Our activities don't seem to last all that long. What are other people doing?

We're not in as rigid a routine as you but we're not far off. She normally has 3 naps a day; the first about an hour after she first wakes up (between 1-2 hours), one about 2-3 hours later (about 45 mins) and one about 1.5-2 hours before bathtime (20-30 mins)

Our days are usually just filled up with little things like visiting friends/family and shopping and just going for drives/walks! When we're at home we do things like playing on the floor on her mat (she loves rolling about), and just playing in general! She has an activity centre, a walker and a door bouncer that occupy her for a short while if I need to do anything like housework..

You ladies are making me feel bad about lack of routine for my second daughter. She is 4 months and my first is 2 years.

My first out herself in a routine. 7 til 7 sleep, 2 naps, bottles every 4 hours and 3 meals by 6-7 months. She loved a routine, when she was awake I did a few baby groups, visited friends and family. At home she went in bouncer, chair, baby gym etc

My second is completely different. Roughly sleeps from 8 ish, wakes randomly but up by 6. 3 to 4 hourly bottles, all of the above activities but this time she joins in or watches my elder girls activities.

It doesn't help that she was born deaf so we have tons of appointments to attend, and homework.

I think some babies like routines and some don't. I will try to persuade into a routine but I won't force it.

Best of luck xxx

Don't feel bad! We literally had no routine up until 6 months, as dd snacked on milk continuously throughout the day and refused naps! It's only since she started weaning that she fell into a routine of naps and the meals worked around that.

I loved having no routine. It made it so easy to go anywhere any time as i wasn't worrying about her food/nap times, which I'm afraid i am now. And because she ate and had mini naps whenever she liked it made her awake time less of a block whereas now I'm struggling to fill the hours she's awake!

Don't force a routine until you're both ready for it.

Xx

We have a rough routine
Milk 7.30, take DS1 to school at 8.30' home have some porridge then a nap about 9.30/10 for only about 30-40 mins.
Milk about 11, lunch about 12 then nap for about an hour. If we've had a bad night I sleep then too, I take him into bed with me and he sleeps longer!
Milk about 2.30, nap about 4.30, dinner 5.30. He then had a bath at 7, bottle then bed. Night time is anyone's guess at the moment!
In the day we play, he lies in his gym or bounces in his jumperoo. We do a couple of baby groups and go for a walk every day.
