baby shower ideas...

hi girls,

I am holding a baby shower this saturday for a friend and i am looking to steal ideas from you all for games, food, decorations etc

I got a goreous cake stand from my DH for mothers day so going to do lots of cupcakes and have proper tea party style (plus some bubbles for those who can drink..) but want to add to that..

all ideas welcome

I always loved the game of melting different candies in diapers and making people guess what kind. So funny watching people smell what looks like a poopy diaper.

I was just at a shower over the weekend and they played a game that said things like "when the leaves change color" and you had to guess a baby name to go with it like "autumn". It was alot of fun and really hard to come up with some of the names!

have never heard of this, fab idea but i am still feeling sick a lot so may not do this...

Showers always seem to take longer than expected, so I like games that you can do throughout the shower without having to stop everything. A good one is to give everyone a cheap dollar store necklace when they first come in and let them know they can't say "Baby" (or any baby-related word of your choice)...if someone hears them say it, they can steal their necklace and if they hear someone else say it, they can steal theirs. Person with the most necklaces at the end wins. Simple and fun!

The one game I really want at my shower is a question game. You have a list of questions you ask the mom-to-be (and the partner too if they would like) and then you ask them at the shower & see who can get the most right. Can be anything, from the moms favorite things, to how long the mom & dad have been together, who knows their middles names, etc. It's fun to see who knows the most about you & fun for the other guests to learn more about you.

My shower is this coming Saturday, too, and my friend has planned a bunch of games. It's ladies and guys (so FOB can participate with his friends) so we have some male-friendly games.

Stroller NASCAR- Two or more (cheap) strollers with baby dolls in them. People have to race a track (length or difficulty of your choosing) and reach the end without the doll falling out of the stroller. If it does fall out, they either have to start over again or they lose. Easy to make this into a relay race so more people can participate with only 2 strollers.

Bottle Drinking Race- fill some baby bottles up with water, juice or soda (or alcoholic beverage lol) and have people race to see who can finish the bottle first. No unscrewing the cap-- you gotta suck the nipple LOL. Added difficulty by telling people they can't hold the bottle with their hands. You can also add more fun with someone by sealing the nipple on one of the bottles with super glue.

My friend is also going to have Prego Bingo, a word search/crossword or word scramble with pregnancy-themed words. I'm not sure what other games she's got planned.

they are brilliant games, think i will have to try the baby bottle drinking dames, I am sure the girls will love champage that way

most of the ones i can think of have been said.. my fav from my baby shower was 'my waters broken' you get plastic cups & everyone gets 2 ice cube in the cup the first person to fully melt the ice cubes wins. we had a bbq so we had ppl using the microwave, bbq stand, lighters ect was very funny
