Baby size

My second little boy was born yesterday! Big brother was late and chunky at 8 lb 11 oz, and we only put him in 3 month+ clothes. This little dude was early and was 7 lb even (and dropping a bit as usual). Is it worth picking up some newborn size clothes? I'm not worried about cost (we have a great second hand store), but I don't want to bother if he won't be in the size long at all.

Any thoughts?

My DD was 7 lbs 4 oz and she wore newborn sizes for the first 6 weeks.

My wee one was in newborn for about three weeks, 0-3 months from about three weeks old until she was four months, and is in 3-6 months now at 5 months.

Looks like you have a lot of replies already, but I'll reply anyway my baby boy was born at 7lbs, 14oz and swam in 3 month clothes (I think most of his weight was in his head). He wore newborn clothes for 6 weeks

My little boy was 8lbs 7oz at birth and 10lbs at 3 weeks and he's been in newborn for about 6 weeks just now really fitting into the 0-3 month and 3 month sleepers

I personally wouldn't buy much newborn, my youngest was 6lb 12.5oz at birth and only fit nb size for a couple of weeks as she just grew! She did need them at birth but it would've been a total waste to have too many.

I wouldn't. depends on your baby's length too. My little squirt was 5.8 pounds but she only lasted in newborn for 3 weeks.

We ended up getting a few pieces, and he's even swimming in the NB size. He's 21" but down to 6 lb 11 oz. I think he'll fatten up quickly, but sticking with 0-3+ would have been too cumbersome for his little skinny body, I think.

My wee one is also long, I have no idea where her long gene comes from! I'm 5 foot 3 and my OH is 5 foot 7. She was 50th centile for height and 25th for weight, she's similar now. I'm slightly overweight but petite. I'm the tallest female in my family!

My LO is 98th centile for height leggy little babies for us! I am quite tall though and my ex was too! She's so long but also thin- finding things that fit her in length and body is so hard
